Writing as a Way of Expression
<html>
<p>Communication was a major breakthrough for the human civilisation. It allowed us to share ideas, feelings, thoughts, messages and just about everything. It is no doubt that communication has been a major foundation for today’s modern human society.</p>
<p>Communication can be done through several media. It can be done through writing, through speech, and nowadays, via the internet in several forms. Apart from all the different uses, we use communication to express ourselves.&nbsp;</p>
<p>As members of society, we feel the need to share our views and feelings and our true “self” with others. We are in constant search for like minded people who can understand us and our deepest self.</p>

<p>One of the most important ways people do that is by way of writing. Be it a poem, a short story, a novel, an essay or even a random piece. Writing is a very powerful way of self expression.</p>
<p>&nbsp;One can communicate to readers what he is like, as a person, his innermost thoughts, his views about the world, his feelings, and a multitude of other things. The saying that ‘the pen is mightier than the sword’ is said for a reason!</p>
<p>Many people find it easy to express themselves. It comes naturally to them and the words just flow out of their heads. But there are people who might find it difficult to express themselves in writing. They have a passion for it and they want to do it so badly but somehow just can’t do it or in many cases find it rather difficult.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Well, there are many ways one can improve upon this and express oneself better and I am going to talk about these in this article.</p>
<h1>1. Grammar and Vocabulary</h1>
<p>This is the most fundamental step in writing. A reader will be able to grasp the ideas you’re trying to communicate, only if the writing is easy to read and only if he understands it.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Bad grammar and lack of proper vocabulary will be an obstacle in the path of being able to achieve that. Grammar and vocabulary will make you more fluent and give you a greater command over your language.</p>
<p>Once you achieve this, you will find it easier to put your thoughts into words and anything you write will be effortless.</p>
<h1>2. Plan</h1>

<p>Sometimes we have just too many thoughts about any given topic and while that is good, it may leave you confused about how to present that multitude of information. What could have been a good write up ends up being not so impressive.</p>
<p>For this, you could plan ahead and learn to organise your thoughts about any topic in advance. You could start by creating an outline by laying down the essential information, that needs to be included. Then you can arrange it in a manner that best describes your point and go on to add extra tidbits here and there to make it more appealing.</p>
<h1>3. Remain Truthful</h1>
<p>By this, I don’t only mean to state the correct facts and knowledge, but I mean this on a deeper level. Whatever it is that you are writing about, you have to remain truthful to the idea you are trying to communicate. You have to believe in the idea and remain passionate.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Your readers are able to feel this in your writing and even if they have different views or disagree with your ideas, they will respect you.</p>
<h1>4. Write Like You Talk</h1>
<p>This one is pretty much self-explanatory. As a reader, I like to read articles that are written in an informal kind of a way. Now, I don’t want everything to be written that way but I certainly do enjoy them.&nbsp;</p>
<p>In a world full of formal, serious, articles, it is refreshing to come across one that is informal in its style and is written in a way as though the writer is right there in front of you talking about his ideas.</p>
<p>It makes for an easier and more interesting read and can help you connect with your readers.</p>
<h1>5. Use Imagery</h1>
<p><img src="http://s15.postimg.org/g2mqizygb/green_381334_640.png" width="640" height="517"/></p>
<p>A picture is worth a thousand words. Sometimes there are ideas you want to communicate that are so complex that even the best version of your writing does not do it justice. You might fear then that the reader might not be able to understand what you are trying to convey.</p>
<p>In such cases, including an image that best describes your ideas or feelings is the best practice to follow. That will help a user immediately understand you and there will be no confusion on his part.&nbsp;</p>
<p>You can use as much imagery as you think is appropriate but you need to make sure that you don’t use a lot. This will make the readers think that your article lacks substance.</p>
<h1>6. Practice</h1>
<p>Practice makes perfect. As with every other skill, writing is a skill that can be developed and improved the more it is done. You can make a habit of writing everyday. Don’t let it burden you. Otherwise it will be just another thing that you “have” to do. Make it a hobby that you love and actually want to do.</p>
<p>Day after day you will learn more and more. Your format will get better and so will your vocabulary. You can begin to see changes only after 10 or so days. You can ask for feedback from your friends and improve accordingly.&nbsp;</p>
<p>In time, articles will seemingly start to write themselves! The whole process will be effortless and you will be able to put your thoughts, feelings and ideas out there for the whole world to read and appreciate.</p>

Good points... In my experience another good tactic is letting your writing free flow in the moment and just let it all out without stopping and then organize/edit afterwords.  I find this helps with both your point of being honest and writing like you talk.  Great post, cheers!

Good post - I can appreciate this and the struggle others feel when trying to write.

**Tip:** Just write two bad pages a day.   This is more so for someone writing a book, but can be used in any form if one is struggling to write.   

Don't think about it just write.  Most of it will be garbage, but within you will find your gem that becomes the topic of your post or the topic of a chapter...etc.
