## Good or bad?

You might wonder if I am going to write about morals and social stuff or such. No. I am going to pen my thoughts about matters relating to food and health. 

In earlier times, food was scarce and war times had people on rations. There are countries like India which still have ration shops and people get rice, sugar, kerosene, and grains for a minimal price. The quality of the groceries is not top class but the poor can afford meals without having to pay a huge sum to the shop owners. 

Nowadays, the cost of living has increased without a doubt but new trends in jobs and the high-paying white-collar jobs in the private sector have youngsters living a very comfortable life without having to be frugal. So, having a meal at a high-end restaurant is no big deal.

### Eating out - Good or bad?

Eating out once in a while is ok, maybe even good because you get to socialize with your friends but if it is on a daily basis, it is bad because not many restaurants prepare food with health-conscious in mind. A butter naan may be tasty but the quality of the all-purpose flour used to make the naan and the butter that is bought cheaply is questionable. 

Avoid eating out daily to be more healthy and you can certainly save money. Bachelors might wonder how they will find the time to cook but it is not very complicated and once you get the hang of it, it is easier to cook a simple meal than spend money on food that is not prepared in hygienic conditions. 

#### Fruit diet - Good or bad?

Once when I visited my brother, I observed my niece not eating along with us. She said that she was on a fruit diet. I did not say anything but living on fruits alone is a sign of danger because fruits are high in potassium and the body's potassium requirements will be surpassed and sodium levels will decrease. So, never try to experiment with your body and follow a diet as prescribed by the nutritionist and not some celebrity YouTuber or some such hocus pocus guy. 

### Drinking water - Good or bad? 

Some people advise us to drink more than eight glasses of water a day. It is okay to drink water to quench your thirst but imagine living in a place that is experiencing rain continuously for months. Drinking lots of water might not do you good at all. Always follow your body's signal and drink water accordingly. Drinking water that comes from bottles is not good. Always drink water that is fresh and if you have to buy drinking water, it means you are getting it from an unknown source. So, it is better to filter and boil it and then drink it. Boiling water can remove the bacteria that might be present in it.
