Minnal Murali - The local superhero

Minnal Murali - a movie produced in Malayalam language but with dubbed versions in several other languages including English was released through the Netflix network a few weeks ago.

## What is Minnal Murali about?
It is a superhero-themed movie. The first of its kind from the Malayalam movie industry. Directed by Basil Joseph and stars Tovino Thomas and Guru Somasundaram and Femina.

### Plotline
Murali is a young chap who tries to get over his breakup when he gets hit by a Minnal - Lightning. Simultaneously, a local tea shop helper who is a social outcast of sorts also gets hit. Both experience some form of superpowers. While Minnal Murali tries to help people, the outcast robs the bank and even kills those who disagree with him.
The movie shows comedic scenes to lighten the tensions but things get complex when the villain's lover and her daughter gets blown up in an accidental fire when the villagers corner him. He tries to get revenge by setting up firecrackers lit and locking them up inside the church. Meanwhile, Murali's new love interest, a Karate specialist comes over and diffuses the fire. Thus, she is portrayed as the human hero because she helps save the locals with her own human powers. Minnal Murali kills the villain after a showdown and the villagers are saved. He decides against leaving his village and stays on to help his people.

## Human emotions
Unlike other superhero movies, there are no aliens or the like and the human touch is used in the story plot. There are few special effects used and the movie is a believable one.

People might agree that this movie does not have the standards of a Hollywood-type superhero movie but then it is made in the local context and the story involves a normal villager rather than top-notch bigwigs or the like.

The movie was well-received by many people who liked the movie. The dubbed versions were very helpful for people across the country and the world to understand the story and enjoy it. Netflix left no stone unturned to publicize the movie and it helped.

Netflix is a worldwide entertainment provider and so Minnal Murali can be viewed by any subscriber from any part of the world. So, if you are interested, just select **Minnal Murali** and choose the language from the audio tab.

The songs are catchy, especially the promo song and I wish you knew the Malayalam language but I think they have tried to translate the song too.

Basically, this movie is all about portraying a comic book hero-type character like those that we oldies used to read in the newspapers, decades ago. The books like Balarama and Poompatta that used to be children's favorites just got bigger and recognized worldwide thanks to the OTT platforms like Netflix.
