Thanks to @partiko for creating a wonderful app and for posing this question which made me reflect on my journey on @steemit. 

Before I go into the part of why I am on steemit, I will write about my entry into the world of steemit. 

I had been taking care of my mother in law who was a dementia patient. As many knows, taking care of a person who suffers from the disease is very traumatic and draining. I was wondering how I would handle it all when I came across steemit. I signed up and started writing but had no idea of what crypto meant or how it would go on to become my greatest asset. 

Sometime later, @arbitrarykitten and her team in @steemiteducation started guiding me and it helped me a lot in gaining a foothold on steemit. The @indiaunited group invited me and I became a part of their discord. The group there is just awesome. a personal thanks to @drakos and other friends for leasing SP and increasing the vote value.

### You too can join the discord, lease 50 sp and gain a permanent registration and get auto voted by the @indiaunited trail. 

As time progressed, I joined several discord groups and tried my hand in everything including @comedyopenmic even. I am thankful that they did not kick me out for my poor attempt in humor. 

@d-pend and his wonderful poetry contest gave me a reason to write poems and I did win two times, I guess which is a great achievement for a non-native English writer like me. 

Time has passed on and in the meanwhile, floods struck and I will never forget how @tygertyger stepped in to help me and my friends out. thanks to her, many kind souls helped us and this is where I really experienced the power of STEEM. 

### STEEM is one crypto which can really translate into HELP without the hassle of fees, address problems and such. 

Keep using steem and one day, it will be recognized universally, not that it is not already but on a much larger scale. 

Along came @partiko and it is very easy for me to use it, get notifications and earn points along the way which will get me assured upvotes too.

### Why am I still on steemit?

* steemit helps people to connect; there are no walls which restrict anyone  and there is no discrimination either.
* steem is the most useful crypto coin which will change the way the world deals in financial matters 
* vote for steem and make it the number one and write to exchanges to include it. 
* do your bit to #promo-steem. I use steem logos in background on other social apps so that other people notice it

Sorry if this sounded more like a thanksgiving post but that is what steemit is all about, to me at least
