I mean...there isn't much to say because it seems like the folks that run the social media platforms somehow take it upon themselves to do these things. Honestly I feel the need to do it comes from feedback. And that feedback comes from conservative people who whine and complain to Facebook, Youtube, etc enough. There voice does not represent the everyday person. While I don't want to see porn on my feeds on Facebook, I think it's someones right to post all the porn they want on theres. It's also the right of the user to control who's post they want to see. I don't look for "big daddy supercomputer" to decide whats good and bad for me, however.

I don't know if there a lot of children here ? But if yes puting filters is a good idea. Sometimes I see post in the list which are filtered and that I can't see, i think if it's sexual content better like this for the children don't see that...

as an old dude already, with no experience of raising kids, 
I would say that you would want to keep your kids smart and aware.

I mean I saw porn by finding my fathers_dirty magazines_ and that wasn't that traumatic, but then again, on the net you can go a lot further and a lot faster.

google whatever horrible thing comes to mind, _"dicks with nails in them"_ to quote Louis CK and you will be horrified.

Warning, I haven't done that and I would recommend that you don't either.

But you can't have both things.

We can't have the internet into our homes and schools and not have the downside as well as the upside.

But kids need to be raised right to know what is real and what isn't  and what they should look at and what they shouldn't.

Then each one will go where they dare. 
And if you try to stop that I am sure you will only be successful for a brief while

My parents watched their language around us, and wouldn't let us watch "R" rated movies until we were in junior high (so, around 12 years old). I had to learn what all the swear words meant at school. Lol! But, they didn't try to shield us from the news, which was usually on the TV around dinnertime, plus we got the newspaper, which I read, even at a very young age. If we had any questions about world events, they answered them honestly. Mainly my mom. We always went to her with questions, because my dad thought it was funny to freak people out and make them cry. So, my mom explained world events to us in a way that made us feel as safe and secure as she was able. I will probably do the same thing with my own kids.
