There are no guarantees in life, we all know this. As much as it is good to plan and prepare for your financial future there are things that happen out of our control. Like legendary boxer Mike Tyson once said; + **Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth** So what does one do when life punches their plan in the mouth??? Well, I'm about to share that with you because it's exactly what just happened to me. ## The Plan Along with my rental real estate and stock/crypto investing I also have a "day job." Blessed to work from home as a financial systems administrator I have the flexibility to spend time on these other endeavors. One of which is also building the scaredycatguide brand for which I have a website (www.scaredycatguide.com) and am writing a real estate investing book for. **Timeline** - My employment status is "contractor" though I have not actually had a contract in years. Basically, my client lets me know if his budget got approved to keep me each fiscal year. This year he got it approved again, thus giving me employment till Oct 1 of this year. Based on that my plan was to attain another rental property (which I closed on February 7th) and invest in a friends business leaving me seven months of pay to build my savings back up since I just exhausted most of it on those investments. That date would also allow me six months to launch my site, book and ad campaigns to see if the scaredycatguide business can generate any revenue. Six months lead time for the business, enough savings to live on for 12 months starting Oct 1 2017. All while owning three cash flowing rental properties. ### My Beautiful Plan This would set me up so nice for success and more importantly allow time for my new business to have success. Along with some other things panning out, such as steem investment going up or the passive income from the investment in my friend's business to come in. ## The Right Hook Yesterday my client called, his new boss (company merged with another) is slashing costs like gangbusters. Several contractors are already gone, but he felt I was save till October. That rhetoric quickly changed! Turns out I was actually unemployed for a few hours last week and did not know it. My client (who I have worked for, for 6 years) pulled me onto a project with him to save me. That did not last long because yesterday's phone call basically summed up to - "I don't think I'm going to be able to save you....I'll definitely get you another month, you know I what just cut you" ### The Stumbled Daze Now that my plan just got punched in the mouth it's time to scramble and create a new plan. Six additional months of income just vanished on me, my saving are the lowest they have been in years because I just made two large investments. The whole plan was to live off passive income and savings while building my business. ## The New Plan Timelines must shift, urgency is now a very prevalent noun in my life. Ran the math, based on what I have in savings, the amount I will save over this month's and next month's paycheck in addition to the rental income I have roughly 6 months.....which ironically gets me to October 1, my expected departure date. Yes, the universe has a funny sense of humor ### But I digress, the NEW PLAN + Get blogs posts up on the scaredycatguide facebook page by end of this week + Launch first facebook ad campaign by end of week + Finish real estate investing book by end of March + Create a how to video for using the free property calculator in next two weeks Basically "go live" sooner than anticipated and rather than have six months to see if this idea/business can make money it kind of will need to make money at that point. It also prevents me from investing in another passive income opportunity, which is frustration but every dollar counts now. ## Conclusion Digest and adjust. It's essential with your finances and with life on a whole. Digest the new information and/or change and adjust accordingly. We may not be able to control everything outside of us, but we can control how we react to those things. ___ Regards, Thanks for the pic [pixabay](https://pixabay.com/en/boom-explosion-sound-detonation-2028563/) Check out http://scaredycatguide.com/ for real estate investing insights and to get the rental property calculator for free!
