What is online theater like and what to look for or not? The latter must be decided by everyone. I can describe my own opinion. The experience, of course, lags behind traditional theatrical performances. It’s actually like when we watch a good movie on TV. Anyone who used to watch theatrical broadcasts on the net or TV, I think, will not be disappointed. The quality of the broadcasts is pretty good and has improved since the beginning. There are performances that are broadcast live and there are some that are about recording. It’s weird that in a comedy, the auditorium around me doesn’t ring with laughter, but you can get used to just having the family giggle at me. If we look at a piece recorded earlier that still had an audience, the mood is a little different. For me, there were two main reasons I chose online theater. One is that this way both my parents and grandparents can see some of the current pieces because unfortunately they have been unable to go to the theater for some time for health reasons and due to their age. Now we can discuss together again who our favorite was and not just listen to the experiences from me. The other is that in this form, this industry can also generate revenue, as they now have some loss of revenue. By the way, not only is the theater I currently watch in this form, but also the fitness classes with great instructors who make the classes personal and unique every time.
The advantage of online broadcasts is that we can easily watch performances from theaters in other cities. Plus, after that, we can go to bed to sleep in human time, because if I didn’t go to work by car, sometimes I left for the last train on weekdays after the performance. Well the next day I didn't have a sincere smile when I went to work in the morning. It is also a good family program. We get together, watch together, and if it was good, we mention it for days after that.
I tested several online platforms. These are SzínházTv, E -színház, Madách SzínpadOn and the online.jegy.hu site, where more and more theaters are connected. Since we don’t have a smart TV at home, I used an HDMI cable to connect my laptop to it so we could watch the shows together. For quality, every page was fine. In addition, some sites have a test video to test how this thing works and describe the technical requirements as well. I recommend this to everyone because it is bad enough to deal with any minor issues at the beginning of the presentation. What else to do in all sorts of ways, read the terms and conditions of viewing the performance, because it’s different on every page, as is buying tickets and “redeeming” tickets. Anyway, it’s not complicated, everything is accurately described. As more and more theaters start broadcasting online, the selection is also constantly growing. I think everyone will find a performance to their liking.
Have fun everyone!
