I finished in the top 4 in the last Champion Modern tournament, and now I'm in the top 8 in the Champion Wild tournament!

I know I don't do this well every time, but it's nice to see my hard work paying off.

Next time, top 4, and then the championship!

I've been able to win a few tournaments like this, but I can't seem to win ranked matches.
In tournaments, you know your opponents in advance, so you can formulate a strategy according to your opponent.
However, in ranked matches, you only know the battle history.
I feel that I am not very accurate in judging whether my opponent is strong or weak based on battle histories alone.

I am the type of player who likes to think about the meta rather than sticking to the theory, but I don't fully understand the theory yet.

The better players, if you look at their histories, have a winning streak that includes not only theory but also the meta.
They are good at understanding their opponents' tendencies based on their battle histories and creating a structure that leaves few openings.

Some may argue that they are bots, but I will not make the assumption that they are bots in this case.
I have heard that the rules are going to become more complicated, and I think it will be harder for bots to operate in the future.

Anyway, I thought about what I could do to make up for what I lacked, so I decided to take a paid IQ test to get to know myself first.

ぼくは前回のチャンピオンモダンのトーナメントでベスト4になってから、今度はチャンピオンワイルドのトーナメントでベスト8を取ることができた！！

毎回こんなに上手くいくわけではないだろうが、ちゃんと努力が結果として表れて嬉しい。

次はベスト4、そして優勝だ！！

トーナメントはこんな風にそこそこ勝てるようになったが、ランクマッチでは中々勝てないんだ。
トーナメントは予め対戦相手が分かるから、相手に合わせた戦略を組める。
しかし、ランクマッチはバトル履歴しか分からない。
バトル履歴だけで相手が強いか弱いか判断する精度が低いことを痛感する。

ぼくはセオリーに忠実というよりメタを考えるのが好きなタイプのプレイヤーだ。
というかまだセオリーを完全に理解していないからそうならざるを得ない部分もある。

上手なプレイヤーは履歴を見るとセオリーだけでなくメタも織り交ぜて連勝を重ねている。
彼らはバトル履歴から相手の傾向を把握して隙の少ない構成を組むのが上手い。

botだという意見もあると思うが、今回はbotという前提はないものとして考える。
これからルールがより複雑化されると聞いているし、今後botは運用しづらくなると思う。

とにかく僕に足りないものを補うためにはどうすればよいか考えた結果、まず己を知るために有料のIQテストを受けてみたんだ。

The average IQ is 100, and the average IQ of students at the University of Tokyo, the smartest university in Japan, is 120.
To be honest, I was not aware that I could achieve such a high result.
The university I graduated from is Beijing Language and Culture University in China.
You could think of it as the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies in Japan.
I can speak Chinese even though I cannot speak English. I have forgotten most of it.

And not to brag, but I think Splinterlands' strength is proportional to card assets and IQ.

IQ is a quantification of fluid intelligence.
Fluid intelligence refers to a broad set of inherent cognitive abilities that require little prior learning or experience.

These abilities include solving abstract reasoning problems and recognizing logical patterns and relationships among shapes, numbers, or letters.

People with high fluid intelligence tend to excel in academic and work environments, especially in situations characterized by uncertainty, ambiguity, complexity, and time pressure.

Isn't this the very battle of Splinterlands itself?
Characteristics such as uncertainty, ambiguity, complexity, and time pressure are perfectly consistent.

The IQ test was primarily based on insight and patterned reasoning, and I was rated particularly high on insight.

In other words, the style of play I want to play doesn't match my aptitude.

As I mentioned earlier, I am a player who likes to build a meta against theories.
I like to guess what my opponents are thinking, and then take pleasure in hitting the target.
I enjoy it like a gambler.

But what I really needed to use was insight, not deduction.

It was the insight to come up with the best configuration within the complex rules of the game.

Of course, balance is important.
If you think you will lose to a superior opponent based on insight, it is also a strategy to play the meta.

I learned that I have a reasonably high IQ, which gave me confidence and helped me understand what I need to do.
The cost was about 2,000 yen ($15), so I was happy enough.

出身大学は中国にある北京語言大学だ。
日本で言う東京外国語大学のような大学だと思ってもらえればいいだろう。
ぼくは英語ができないのに中国語ができる。もうほとんど忘れたが、、

そして自慢するわけではないが、Splinterlandsの実力はカードアセットとIQに比例すると思う。

IQとは流動性知能を数値化したものだ。
流動性知能とは、事前学習をや経験をほとんど必要としない、本来の認知能力の広範な集合を指す。

これらの能力には、抽象的な推論問題を解くことや、形状、数、または文字の間の論理的なパターンや関係を認識することが含まれる。

流動性知能が高い人は、学問や仕事の環境、特に不確実性、曖昧さ、複雑さ、時間的プレッシャーといった特徴を持つ状況下で、優れた成果を出す傾向にあると言われている。

これはまさにSplinterlandsのバトルそのものじゃないか？
不確実性、曖昧さ、複雑さ、時間的プレッシャーといった特徴は完全に一致している。

IQテストは洞察力とパターン推論を主に評価してくれて、ぼくは洞察力を特に評価された。

つまりやりたいプレイスタイルとぼくの適正が合っていないんだ。

先述したが、ぼくはセオリーに対してメタを構築するのが好きなプレイヤーだ。
相手の考えを推理して、それを的中させて悦に浸る。
ギャンブラーみたいな楽しみ方をしていた。

しかし、本当に僕が使うべきなのは推理力ではなく、洞察力だった。

複雑な対戦ルールの中で最適な構成をひらめく洞察力だ。

もちろんバランスが大事だ。
格上相手に洞察で負けると判断したらメタを張るのも作戦だ。

今回ぼくはこのことを知れて自分はIQがそこそこ高いことを知れて自信がついたし、やるべきことがわかった。
出費も2000円(15$)程度だったので、十分満足だ。
