Experimental Painkiller Is Stronger Than Morphine But It Is Not Addictive

***American experts managed to create a new chemical compound that is great against pain yet isn’t addictive. AT-121 has so far been tested only on animals but so far the results are quite promising.***

The scientists tried to develop a molecule that could affect two key receptors in our brain – the opioid receptor and the nociceptin receptor. The opioid receptor has been commonly used as a target by many painkillers while the nociceptin receptor regulates several different brain activities including the one that is partially responsible for addiction.

During experiments performed on Rhesus macaques, it was shown that AT-121 provides the same pain relief as morphine but while using a hundred times smaller dosage and it also reduced the level of oxycodone addiction.

This was only one of the few studies of this time that were recently published and this could give humanity hope of creating a safe painkiller that wouldn’t cause addiction.
