New Weapon Against Hackers- Bugs In The Software

***Scientists have come up with a new defense against hackers. Using a specialized piece of software they include a lot of bugs in the code that are not vulnerabilities yet still eat up the hackers time***

To develop software without any bugs is not really possible, specially these days when software is made from millions of lines of code that are all interconnected and built in multi-layer programming languages. And while developers are trying to fix these bugs, the ball is always on the hackers side. But now a new way to protect themselves may have come to the light of day.

Innitially the scientists were searching for a solution that would just search and assess the bugs in the software. But to test it they had to create a tool that would create thousands of artificial bugs. During the creation of this software they realized that it is really time consuming to find and test all the bugs but adding many bugs that aren’t vulnerabilities is quite easy.

The trick to being a successful hacker is finding the balance between finding exploitable bugs and abusing them. So for him to be profitable he needs to find exploitable bugs quite fast. Adding thousands of bugs that aren’t exploitable thus makes his job much harder and much less profitable.

The artifical bugs are obviously quite harmless but that isn’t something that is obvious to the attacker. So now it’s the goal of the scientists not to find bugs but to create harmless bugs that appear potentially exploitable.
