Signs of Spring!

A great deal of our snow has melted in the past two weeks. The last snowfall was March 12-13, and the sun has shone nearly every day since then, with temperatures often in the 50s or even low 60s. What a pleasant change that is, and how uplifting I find the warmer air and bright sky! Today I realized the snow had melted away from the flower beds alongside our house, and the first few green shoots of flowers are coming up. That's exciting!

<center>A close-up of those little green things shows them to be foxgloves and ...oh dear, what did I plant there? I guess I will find out soon!</center>

<center>Over on the other side of the porch, I planted a bag of narcissus. Or so I thought. There seem to be daffodils and hyacinths and one other plant that never got to bloom last year because the deer ate it first.</center>

<center>The snow lingers longer on the north side of our house, and is still blocking much of the light in the laundry room window. But the snow is melting and settling, and it gets lighter every day. I took this picture through the screen and you can see where the dryer vent melted out a nice cave in the snowbank.</center>
