The Last Lock - Monomad Challenge

# Hail to the Hive!

We left The City of Leicester 2 days ago and are slowly slowly heading our way to an area we want to spend the winter in. There’s a lot of canal locks to negotiate on our way out of Leicestershire. There are 41 locks on the Leicester arm of the Grand Union alone before we even get onto the oxford canal.

Leaving Leicester there’s 24 of these bad boys to do before you reach Foxton, which has a flight of 10 locks assisted by volunteers. We did 23 of these in the last 2 days. It makes a slow travel much slower and is something you must accept and embrace as part of canal life or else you may as well not be here as it’s part of the magic.

This morning we wake up early and only have this last lock to do, at Kibworth, before a nice long lockless stretch to Foxton.

I think @millycf1976 is happy for a little break as it can be quite tiring, and it’s getting a little cold.

Realising that she was a little tired from the last 2 days I prepared the lock for entering while the engine was warming up and then walked badger in. Tied her up ( badger that is not @millycf1976 ) and filled the lock.

Once she was level I opened the gates jumped aboard and moved her out.

A quick tie up with a single line while closing the gates and off we go.
