Owning more things makes me feel like I have less control over my life. Seeing a pile of unused junk I bought over the years leaves me contemplating the deeper meaning of it all.

I think about **my job**. I convert my free time into money through my job, then convert the money into a pile of junk. So it seems I could have more free time without the junk.

I think about **my future**. Will the pile get bigger? Will I need a bigger house for a bigger pile. How many years will I have to work to pay for a bigger house?

I think about **opportunity cost**. What else could I be doing with my time if I wasn't converting it into this pile of junk?

How much freedom is really in that pile of junk?
