 Chemotherapy and irradiation, which are the most commonly used methods for the treatment of cancer, very often sterilized patients. If a patient still wants to have biological children, he/she must store his or her sex cells for future use before therapy.
At the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, the first such achievement is reported on primates: a macaque-type monkey was born with sperm derived from tissue that was taken to father during childhood, frozen, and then transplanted back into the puberty.
