Ankr Hacked 🀧
The amount of hacking this year is really outstanding. A new coin has been brought to ruin by the name of Ankr.

So apparently, a certain hacker decided to end his year with a blast, mining and minting approximately 20 trillion Ankr Reward Bearing Staked BNB (aBNBc), which is the reward bearing token for BNB staked on the protocol.

According to the analysis from the firm LookonChain, the hacker <sub>being a sharp kidπŸ˜‚</sub> used different swapping services (Uniswap, Tornado Cash, etc.) to swap and try and hide the funds getting a cash out of about $5 million dollars USDC.

Ankr also mentioned that "all underlying assets of staking are safe at this time, and all infrastructure services are unaffected." 
So I guessed they came out quite lucky.

The hacking was noticed on 12:35am UTC on December 2nd by the on-chain security analysis PeckShield. 
I'll have to commend their quick reaction for within an hour of the attack, Ankr confirmed on Twitter that the aBNB token has been exploited and at such all trading of the compromised token would be halted.

Although they were fast in responding, it didn't really help them as the mass minting of their token reduced their trading price by -99.5% from $303.89 to $1.53. According to data gotten from CoinMarketcap, this fall happened in a matter of hours.
Now it's even lower...😭

 I do sometimes wonder how hackers feel after they're true. Is it like a job well done kind of feeling?

Hello po! πŸ‘‹How are you?. When I heard the word "hack" I cant stop myself to know why po🀣. But seriously and to be honest I am confused if this things because I am not into crypto yet I am a newbie po. But if all these that I heard about hacking, I see this as purpose driven thing po. I am not saying it is good or bad, but I choose to see it positively po, that sometimes people need po to learn to be alert, aware and careful po. And need to understand the things I. Whatever part of life po. Learn to accept that if hacking happens, accept and move forward po. Of course very painful po especially po for those big investors.🀨But to react negatively will only cause more sadness and emotional damage po. And best po to always have a alternative plan always. Except for the worst always po. Easy to say po but this is the best way po. Maybe I am wrong but this is how I see it po. Most of all po trust Gods mercy and guidance always po. I always wonder if people feel bad too, I certainly would! 

Interesting post, I really don't pay attention to crypto outside of hive, so I had no idea about this! Crazy times for sure, what sucks (aside from the sadness of financial damage to individuals) is these hackers probably don't care that they are hurting the crypto world in general by doing this.

He said and I quote

Some people have already sold their souls and if they do something wrong they don't even feel bad or remorseful. A friend of mine also had her account on hive hacked and was left with nothing. Sorry about the experience.

do I understand correctly that the hacker minted a huge amount of tokens, then traded them out pdq?

for me that makes this an interesting case as they haven't directly stolen tokens which belonged to other people. Those folks still have ownership of their property.

instead what has happened is a mass dilution of the value of the tokens in circulation.

until fairly recently such market manipulations were the reserve of pinstriped shirt wearing financiers in Canary Wharf or Wall Street.

Yes he did mint and trade them... 
Normally it would be quite easy to trace their tokens, but the problem.is he used different services to trade them batch by batch...
Thus exponentially increasing his safety rate..
It's quite smart in a devilish kinda wayπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
