I have never had much of a good relationship with Saturn. Another way to say that is that I don’t like discipline and order in my life and sometimes life kicks my ass because of my lack of discipline, although my experience of this is often indirect.

I am my own boss and I always wing it. I multitask to no end. My process is “whatever I feel like”. I don’t wake up or sleep or eat at regular times. Nothing about my life is regular except that I generally try to avoid really unhealthy food and try to get 7-8 hours of sleep a night.

I’ve know for a while that I needed to introduce order into my life somewhere as a kind of tribute or offering if nothing else. At least an effort might allow my life to come together a little more tangibly, rather than just the intangible progress that I’m accustomed to.

I’ve tried all kinds of things but the other day I was listening to the Duncan Trussell Family Hour podcast episode with Jason Louv and Duncan was basically talking shit about people who cook and don’t ever follow recipes.

“That’s me” I thought.

“People have been cooking for centuries and here comes this guy who thinks he can do it better than the recipe without ever having had cooked the dish before…but if you want the results, you follow the instructions”. This isn’t exactly what he said but it’s what I heard.

He was comparing cooking to Magick in that if you want exact results you need to follow the instructions because there are people who know what they are doing and lay it out for you.

“Ah hah! That’s how I find structure and order in my life! I need to cook and follow the directions!”

And so I became a patron of Duncan so I could join his discord and see what kind of fun souls might be lurking there. And I decided to cook dinner once a week!

(For those who don’t know, Duncan Trussell is the mind and podcast behind the Midnight Gospel on Netflix)

All day I was thinking “urrrrgh cooking!” I don’t like cooking because I never get the results I hope for….I also never follow the directions lol

And so I chose something with honey cause I like honey, Honey Garlic Samon to be exact.

The results weren’t exactly what I was hoping for, the salmon was a little dry and it felt like there was way too much sauce, probably because Japanese portions are so much smaller than American ones.

haha I was exactly the same. My work kind of lended itself to that kind of chaotic schedule. eikaiwa stuff is usually in the evening, and translation jobs can be whenever, same with photography work. But man, let me tell you, kids changed that in a hurry, especially when they started at elementary school. 

Anyway, the food looks good. Much better than I can do! My limit may be curry rice... haha.

Well, this was the first trial wasn't it? You'd do better next time for sure or in future as you continue practicing and seeing what your results look/taste like. This one looks really good, though, in the photo 😃.

I myself don't like discipline and order too, I try to get at least 8 hours of sleep a day too and I work out but I don't set certain times for these, the best I can do is say I must do it everyday but no set time and stuff. I like to feel free and flexible, I haven't tried changing this lifestyle like you, I've only tried to make sure I do what I need to do everyday whether I set time for em or not. Good luck if you think you really need order, though 👍

It's just about balance. I like the chaotic freestyle life, just trying to introduce a tiny bit of order. It tasted really good, I was amazed at myself!

There's a limited number of specific instances where you HAVE to follow instructions, and it usually boils down to things that can go catastrophically wrong if you don't.  With everything else if you make it up as you go well you might end up with the result you wanted or you might not and whether you "have" to follow the instructions depends entirely on how badly you want a specific result XD
