I hope you are doing well! Today I want to share with you my entry to the Splinterlands weekly art contest. For this illustration I took the Mischievous Mermaid character and tried to make her as adorable as possible and with a Chibi style. I wanted to give her a contrast and make the character with a chibi style and a more detailed marine background, I also used a couple of brushes that I had saved and wanted to use since a long time ago. </div> # <center> <div class="phishy"> Español </div> </center> <div class="text-justify"> Saludos amigos! Espero estén muy bien!- Hoy quiero compartir con ustedes mi entrada al concurso de arte semanal de Splinterlands. para esta ilustración tome el personaje Mischievous Mermaid y trate de hacerla lo mas adorable posible y con un estilo Chibi. Quise darle un contraste y hacer el personaje con estilo chibi y un fondo marino mas detallado, tambien use un par de pinceles que tenia guardado y quería usar desde hace tiempo. </div>  # <center> <div class="phishy"> Reference </div> </center> # <center> </center>  # <center> Process/Proceso </center> We start the sketch with the basic shape, at this point I wanted to make the shape of the trident in blue and adjust it before making the sketch. Second step we make the sketch in red color and a brush almost the same size, at this point we adjust certain details and leave everything ready for the next step. Step three we make the lineart in black color, we use the Froggy brush “I have been using this brush for a while and I really like the texture, but it doesn't have a stroke stabilizer hehe”. >Iniciamos el boceto con la forma básica, en este punto quise hacer la forma del tridente en color azul y ajustarlo antes de hacer el boceto. Segundo paso hacemos el boceto en color rojo y un pincel casi del mismo tamaño, en este punto ajustamos ciertos detalles y dejamos todo listo para el siguiente paso. Paso tres hacemos el lineart en color negro, usamos el pincel Froggy "tengo un tiempo usando este pincel y realmente me gusta muchísimo la textura, pero no tiene estabilizador de trazo jeje"  We apply the base color, in this step I wanted to add a blue background to get an idea of how it would look with the colors of the character. >Aplicamos el color base, en este paso quise agregar un fondo azul y asi tener una idea de como se veria con los colores del personaje.  For the water effect I used a special brush and retouched it with another normal brush because I felt that the result was not what I was looking for, I also added light rays with a lighter tone. The fish are also with a special brush, I think they are fine because being part of the background do not require so much detail, when I finished adding it I applied the effect of blurred by movement. I also added small colored corals and some bubble beads. When I finish the background I can work on the character and we start from the skin. In the character I will not apply so strong shadows to make contrast with the background. My intention is to make a tender character looking for something chibi style, instead of something more realistic . >Para el efecto de agua use un pincel especial y lo retoque con otro normal pues sentía que el resultado no era lo que buscaba, tambien agregue rayos de luz bajando con un tono mas claro. Los peces también son con un pincel especial, creo que estan bien pues al ser parte del fondo no requieren tanto detalle, al terminar de agregarlo aplique el efecto de difuminado por movimiento. Tambien agregue pequeños corales de colores y unas cuentas burbujas. Al terminar el fondo puedo trabajar en el personaje e iniciamos desde la piel. En el personaje no aplicare sombras tan fuertes para hacer contraste con el fondo. mi intención es hacer un personaje tierno buscando algo al estilo chibi, en lugar de algo mas realist  Unlike the body in the fish tail I wanted to put a little more detail, using a scale brush and similar colors we give final details. Initially I had planned to make it a lighter hair color but I feel that changing it to a darker tone would be more similar to the original character. >A diferencia del cuerpo en la cola de pez si quise ponerle un poco mas de detalles, usando un pincel de escamas y colores similares damos detalles finales. Inicialmente tenia pensado hacerla de un color de cabello mas claro pero siento que cambiarlo a un tono mas oscuro seria mas parecido al personaje original.  Finally we give details in the eyes, add lights and even more important a blue filter using a new layer and the multiply effect, I know it is almost not noticeable but it is there. Something I like to do is to correct the colors using Corel photopain before finishing it. >Para finalizar damos detalles en los ojos, agregamos luces y aun mas importante un filtro en azul usando una capa nueva y el efecto multiplicar, se que casi no se nota pero si esta hay.
