Hello weekenders, in this opportunity I want to share a very technically enriching experience in terms of body manipulations, for some years I have been training as a therapist in different areas of my interest, not finding in conventional careers a niche in which my academic concerns can converge harmoniously, I am putting together my own training as circumstances allow me.

 Last weekend was the turn of an intensive introduction to somatic shiatsu massage, I had already come with an approach to this technique theoretical and practical, This time what made it special was that it was two full days, all day Saturday and Sunday from the morning until the early hours of the night practicing techniques of this particular style of massage, on the whole body, we studied the whole session, it is something that is not even done very often attending people because the time is too long in the deepening of the techniques and in general those who attend a consultation usually do it for specific pains in localized areas so it is common to treat only two areas of the body per session.

This massage is done on the floor, we learnt how to set up the correct working space, the proprioceptive body register, which is something we had already been working on and was deepened in this workshop because we gave a large number of massages one after the other relatively.

The best thing was working with a great variety of bodies, women and men of all sizes and ages, with different particular ailments, they allowed me to know my limitations and advantages with respect to my own body and how to successfully overcome the challenge of a complete massage session on a human being with all that this implies, I confess that I used a resource that I have very handy every time I have to work as a masseuse specifically, which is to see the person who lies down to receive as if it could be my child, because if there is something that taught me to love radically was motherhood, then everything flows for me very naturally.

*Active listening and conscious presence is something I have been practising a lot in the last few years, and adding body awareness to this is a supreme journey.*

Something very funny and that caught my attention was at the closing moment, when all the participants gave an oral feedback about the workshop in general and how they felt, I received an implicit scorn 😅 for having commented that I did not feel comfortable at all because sometimes the nerves that can be generated by the lack of experience are transmitted in the massage, whether I was giving or receiving, in tantra workshops it is normal to touch the discomfort and name it to make it a collective body and move through it, these people who were in the room with me seemed to me that they were not used to this kind of reviews that tend to move in general and I could have been a very inopportune finger in the wound but I really don't know if they expected to be excellent professionals of massage for having participated in only one intensive meeting, the point is that this feeling of mine manifested itself in the field and I was in charge of opening that conversation for all those present, because it is true that only practice makes experience, and learning is a slow process, which often takes the path of error and it is good to recognise it and try again and again, always with listening and availability both working with others and with oneself. I just want to be honest.
