Come di consueto oggi vi porto dentro una nuova Anteprima di un articolo che fra qualche giorno o settimana vedrete Nella Mente di un SerialFiller, il mio blog interamente incentrato sul mondo delle serie tv e di cui, da qualche mese, ho deciso di regalarvi costantemente, in anticipo su quello che pubblicherò, gran parte dei post che vedrete su www.serialfiller.org.
Ma veniamo alle premiazioni, veniamo a quello che a tutti gli effetti potrebbe essere ricordato come il più clamoroso errore della storia della tv.
Nessun premio della stagione televisiva 2022 è andato a Better Call Saul.
La serie spinoff di Breaking Bad ha chiuso i battenti qualche settimana fa, proprio come qualche mese prima aveva fatto This Is Us (qui la recensione del finale dello show sulla famiglia Pearson), lasciandoci con un series finale da antologia ed una stagione finale che molti, compreso il sottoscritto, reputano una delle migliori della storia della tv, se non, addirittura, la migliore.
Se volete consolarvi, vi lascio alla recensione fiume con la quale ho salutato lo show con protagonisti Bob Odenkirk e Rhea Seaehorn, anche loro completamente ignorati dalla giuria in favore degli attori di Squid Game.
Tutti i vincitori degli Emmy sono assolutamente meritevoli e non c'è una singola serie che passi inosservata fra quelle vincenti.
Ho adorato cosi tanto Succession da posizionarla al primo posto nella classifica 2021 (qui la classifica integrale). Stesso discorso per Squid Game, Ted Lasso, Hacks e The White Lotus, senza dimenticarsi di Dopesick, Euphoria e Dropout, anch'esse ottimamente posizionate nel mio borsino seriale.
Detto questo, Better Call Saul è un totale capolavoro, sotto ogni punto di vista. La sceneggiatura è da 10 e lode, il comparto tecnico idem, gli attori sono stati superlativi, la serie tutta ha lasciato un'impronta indelebile che solo i secoli e la ingratitudine umana potranno sbiadire.
Non premiarla, neppure con un premio è un segno di debolezza totale di questa rassegna che, nonostante abbia premiato serie eccelse, si è dimenticata di quella che potrebbe essere ricordata come la migliore serie all time fin qui (Breaking Bad permettendo).
E' come se, negli anni in cui Maradona giocava, vinceva, e faceva sognare, ed era eleggibile per il pallone d'oro, la FIFA decidesse di dare il premio ai vari Platini, Van Basten, Gullit, tutti ottimi giocatori ma nessuno indimenticabile e perfetto come Diego Armando Maradona.
In tutto ciò resta a secco anche la rivelazione dell'anno, Severance. Ma questa è un'altra storia.

As usual today I am bringing you inside a new Preview of an article that in a few days or weeks you will see In the Mind of a SerialFiller, my blog entirely focused on the world of TV series and of which, for the past few months, I have decided to give you constantly, in advance of what I will publish, most of the posts you will see on www.serialfiller.org.
The most anticipated and prestigious TV celebrations of the year were held on the night of September 12-13, 2022.
Here you will find all the nominations and some analysis/observations by yours truly with respect to the jurors/journalists' choices.
Already at the nomination stage some flaws had emerged that were difficult to justify.
One among them had been the exclusion from the nominees of actors, authors of This Is Us, as well as all the awards that could have involved the series itself. This excellent exclusion had been so absurd that it prompted me to write a post against such a choice, trying to analyze the nonexistent reasons and offer some food for thought.

But let's come to the awards, let's come to what for all intents and purposes could be remembered as the most glaring mistake in TV history.
No award from the 2022 television season went to Better Call Saul.
The Breaking Bad spinoff series closed its doors a few weeks ago, just as This Is Us had done a few months earlier (review of the show's finale about the Pearson family here), leaving us with an anthology-worthy series finale and a final season that many, including yours truly, consider one of the best in TV history, if not, indeed, the best.
If you want to console yourself, I leave you with the river review with which I said goodbye to the show starring Bob Odenkirk and Rhea Seaehorn, who were also completely ignored by the jury in favor of the Squid Game actors.
All the Emmy winners are absolutely deserving, and there is not a single series that goes unnoticed among the winning ones.
I loved Succession so much that I placed it first in the 2021 rankings (full rankings here). Same goes for Squid Game, Ted Lasso, Hacks and The White Lotus, not forgetting Dopesick, Euphoria and Dropout, also excellently placed in my serial duffle.
That said, Better Call Saul is a total masterpiece in every way. The script is 10 with flying colors, the technical department ditto, the actors were superlative, the whole series left an indelible imprint that only the centuries and human ingratitude can fade.
Not to reward it, not even with an award is a sign of total weakness of this review which, despite having awarded sublime series, has forgotten what could be remembered as the best series all time so far (Breaking Bad permitting).
It is as if, in the years when Maradona played, won, and made people dream, and was eligible for the Ballon d'Or, FIFA decided to give the award to the various Platini, Van Basten, Gullit, all excellent players but none as unforgettable and perfect as Diego Armando Maradona.
In all this the revelation of the year, Severance, also remains dry. But that is another story.
