Preparing for our next big release with a few changes!
As you all know we are rolling out within the next few days a huge upgrade to our platform which will include a lot of really awesome surprises you all will hopefully love! To prepare for this upgrade we do have to announce some changes that will go into effect in the next week.

# Limits on Shadow Rank
If your account does not have more than the Fractional Voting Level (currently 1250 SP) you will be unable to grow your Shadow Rank beyond 25. Those who already are above 25 Shadow Rank but under the FVL will either have to power up or we will begin reducing your Shadow Rank by 1 each day until it reaches 25, or you power up over the FVL.

There has been a huge number of new users created that refuse to increase their SP over weeks/months time and our pool contributes to them far more as they earn higher and higher Shadow Ranks. Remember the idea of this is not to punish good members we have a few other updates that will greatly benefit you if you are in fact a good steemian.

# More focus on Steem Power (SP)
Users who increase their organic SP by powering up not renting or powering down will see their Shadow Ranks boosted far more than those with little SP or those who rent it. Renting SP will still be better than having low SP but it will not be ranked the same going forward as organically vested SP.

# Shadow Rank penalties
We have designed Shadow Rank with the idea that it is a reward ranking metric we use inside ShadowBot to help decide how good a caster is. Up till this point we have not reduced any members Shadow Rank. The original design does call for us to increase the Shadow Rank of good steemians but also to reduce the rank of those who attempt to abuse ShadowBot and/or Steem. Starting this week if you are abusing either system, being flagged constantly, or otherwise reported to us and we decide at our discretion you are causing unfair allocations your Shadow Rank can and will be reduced until it becomes fair for all.

# Conclusion
Remember if you are a good active steemian this should HELP you because we are focusing going forward on rewarding good as we always have, but now we are beginning to (somewhat) punish the abusers instead of letting them for the most part squeak by.

Well it is a bit of a mental tussle....should I lock up profits or an investment in SP or stay as close to liquid as possible.  I try (as I am sure many other thinking minnows) to straddle the line, doing both.  A little this one week, a little that the next.

we are seeing about 100 of your 326 coming from rewards generated by the pool over the past 5 months. As we stated we are ensuring that no one is harmed that is a legit steemian by this upgrade. Many people do not understand the true nature of why we even have the FVL which we will outline in more detail in a follow up post that should explain everything more clearly. The users without the voting power slider do not have it for a reason. We are looking to balance things and ensure everyone can get up. Remember if you are below the FVL you still have an entire day dedicated to you "Minnow Booster Day"!

Hi @shadowbot I have been on steemit almost 6 months now and shadowbot pretty much from the start. As far as I can see I have never been flagged if so maybe once or twice in the beginning. I run this contest twice a week and it costs me 12SBD a week to other stemians to build this community. This contest by no means makes a profit it COSTS me Weekly but I LOVE giving back. https://steemit.com/contest/@craigcryptoking/take-one-for-the-team-and-tag-a-mate-contest-6-sbd-giveaway-round-11-1-of-2-for-the-week  This contest is so popular that we hit top ten for comments on @arcange weekly sometimes twice a week. My question is this, how will these changes now benefit me and my fellow stemian contestants as this change will probably disallow the contest to continue as I make the prize money up from all my other posts a large part of which (gratefully) used to come from shadowbot upvotes?? This change will not only negatively affect myself but the plethora of current contestants and prize winners and there are many, you can see all my weekly contests and top ten arcange performers. By no means am I 'rigging' the system I give away far more than I earn! Thanks in advance ;) Cheer$;)

Our goal is never to punish good stemians you can trust that we will never do that! We are simply looking to make things more fair, if you are adding to your SP each week even if you are below the FVL you will see your earnings rank higher. Our pool priority algorithm allows for a lot of variables and we are constantly making sure the good steemians can get up. We are going to lower the FVL to 750 until at least June when this release goes into effect to ensure everyone has a chance to get up!

Hey Shadowbot, I am feeling a little bit down atm, I am with Shadowbot for more than 4 months and I was doing my best to get more people into Shadowbot, I have been constantly working on getting more Steem Power so I can increase my rank and after I suddenly started to pick up some rank this update comes along :(
I am currently at 456 SP and it will take me a lot of time to get over FVL, or if I want to keep my rank I would have to buy around 800 Steems which is like 3000$. Or I can lease 800 Steem Power which is expesnive 20+ Steems and with bids that amount can easily increase. Can you please find another solution, like reducing the FVL or something like that?

As described above the big thing is if you are under the FVL and over 25 Shadow Rank you will see it start coming down until you either power up or your rank will be capped at 25. This is the big change. If you are not being flagged more than once every 100 posts/comments you create and are having your SP go up each week you will see a positive from this upgrade. The key is to grow your SP that is how you earn more and we all earn more! We just want to stop the people who create 100 accounts with less than 20 SP from being able to earn 50+ Shadow Rank while providing less than 0.01 SBD back to us all while they earn 5 SBD from us all! Just doesn't seem fair to the REAL steemians like yourself who work hard to build up their account!

Will the minimum fractal voting level include delegation? 

I don't want to lose my shadowrank but don't currently have the funds to invest in another 500sp at the moment unless it's delegated (which I'm happy to do). I've been powering up every week and my SP has easily doubled since the project began 6 months ago.

Yes delegated SP is always included in your total SP but it will count less toward future boost. To be simple if you were going to get 4 Shadow Rank increase you would only get 2 by renting your SP vs owning it. You still would be able to earn the Shadow Rank since your overall SP is over the FVL.

No no and no!
You can't block shadowrank from those under 1250 SPs, let alone reduce it! I invest like crazy in the francophone community,... and I power up all my earnings. However, I am not above 1000 SP!  Please, change that, at least, leave it blocked but don't make it reduce by 1 every day! today 1250 STEEM = over $5,000!

True, I feel your pain man, I've been powering up all the time and I've kept all of my VP so SB can use it.
I just hope that they can give some discount for old users like FVL to be like 500 so we can keep our rank because I was with SB from the beginning where SB users started with 5 rank and I was stuck at rank 5 for 2 months, now new users get 2-3 rank increase every week. I was so happy that I've hit 58 rank, please consider this SB devs, please. :)
