Playing WIth AI Images

I’ve started playing around with AI (Artificial Intelligence) generated images this past week. I’ve been seeing stories about it for some time now and been curious but not especially motivated to explore.

Then the other day I saw someone talking about using AI to generate images I had an interest in. As many of you know, I create colouring books to sell on Amazon which is what the person was playing with AI to create. I watched the video with interest and ideas started sparking.

There were a few options he talked about. I was drawn to Mid-Journey as I liked that it was a Discord bot and I could invite it into my server to use it there. All the images generated by the bot even those in my server were available publicly.

Mid-Journey allows a trial of 25 images to dip your toe in. After that you need to subscribe to the service. The first level provides a subscriber with 200 images a month. To use the images commercially, like here on Hive, a subscription is required. The images remain within the public gallery even with your subsription. You can pay an additional monthly fee to take the images private.

Here’s some of the results I have obtained so far.

This was my first effort. I didn’t attempt to remove any colour from this prompt

This effort went to more black and white but still didn’t give me something representing a colour image.

I tried having the image produced some zentangle inside the image which came out interesting but still not close to colouring page level.

I tried specifying a white background but the prompt still didn’t get me images even close to being looking like a colouring image.

Now I was able to get some results looking a lot more like a colouring page. I could still do some more refining of the prompts but progress is happening.

@ausbitbank has created an AI discord bot you can use to generate images in his discord. I invited it to my server but wasn’t able to use it initially he was doing some maintenance work on it.

Overall, I think this AI tool has opened up some possibilities for me that will grow as I learn to write more effective prompts to refine my work.
