Study: People who correct misspellings are affected by this mental illness

We are often bothered by people who correct spelling and grammatical errors in their comments and conversations on social networking sites in an unjustified way, and an American study revealed the motive behind this and what lies in the personality of these people, according to The Guardian. According to the study conducted by researchers from the University of Michigan, America, and published recently, that some are in the mistakes written because of writing on the keyboard or the lack of knowledge of grammar or some words, but this is not justified at all for those who correct errors always. The study was conducted on 80 people from various backgrounds, to try to detect things common to people who tend to correct language errors always. The authors of the study found that those who tend to this behavior, and feel uncomfortable seeing the linguistic errors in front of them, tend to converge. The researchers sent a letter to many people's mail, which was full of mistakes. After receiving error responses, the researchers sent a number of questions to explore their personalities, and here scientists discovered that these people were more "introverted" than others. In the same vein, Dennis Brown, a professor of English and linguistics at the University of Illinois, said that the habit of correcting language errors excessively is a psychological disorder and not just as annoying as some think. "This disorder is a type of obsessive-compulsive disorder," he said. The researchers call it Grammatical Pedantry Syndrome.
