Happy New Year to all! This happens to be my first post for 2024. Anyways, this post will be for the [battle mage secrets](https://peakd.com/hive-13323/@splinterlands/battle-mage-secrets-weekly-challenge-s6ck6n). The theme featured this week is ***Aimless***. In this ruleset, all units get the scattershot ability.  This doesn't really affect melee units though. It's mostly meant for magic and ranged units which just make them randomly attack a unit.

<center> <h1> **My Strategy & Tips for Aimless** </h1> </center>

In Aimless, I think it's ideal to try to play ranged or magic units that are fast. I also would try to get some melee units with reach, opportunity or sneak so at least you have some focused damage. I don't feel that there's any particularly good lineup. It will mostly be RNG if both players choose mainly magic or ranged units as the backline. 

I guess Jacek would be an ok summoner to play since you get that speed and since everyone already has scattershot then it doesn't really matter because in most cases it's not good to have scattershot. Scattershot is only good if you know opponent is playing taunt or Lilyshield paw or some annoying camo unit like Dr Blight. Honestly, I think anything is up for game and there's no straightforward strategy for this ruleset since it's super RNG dependent. I would just focus on ranged/magic units with good damage, health and speed.

<center> <h1> **The Battle** </h1> </center>

I usually share only brawl battles for my main account since if you see it in wild it's my archmage bot playing. Anyways I was facing The Wizards which is a pretty strong guild. The rulesets were Rise of the Commons, Reverse Speed and Aimless. It was a a 35 mana cap battle with fire and life elements banned.

<center> <h1> **Discussing My Lineup** </h1> </center>

<br> **Summoner**, ***Obisidian*** - I chose Obsidian because Earth has a lot of great slow units for reverse speed. As mentioned before, it's ideal to go first in a scattershot ruleset and honestly most rulesets.

<br> **First Position**, ***Mycelic Infantry*** - Mycelic Infantry is one of the god-tier reverse speed units for earth element. It's super tanky and has great damage making it an ideal choice in this battle.

<br> **Second Position**, ***Venari Scout** - Venari Scout was to help have more focused damage. I didn't want to completely pray on scattershot to hit on the low health unit.

<br> **Third Position**, ***Madcap Magus*** - Madcap already has the scattershot ability so it didn't matter. I mainly used it because it has 1 speed so it can attack first.

<br> **Fourth Position**, ***Ujurak Mystic*** - Ujurak was mainly fodder. I couldn't find any other good low speed magic/range unit to use so I just through this in their to hopefully tank one /two attacks.

<br> **Fifth Position**, ***Goblin Psychic*** - Yet another god-tier reverse speed card. It's amazing because it has silence and it can also heal my Mycelic Infantry.

<br> **Sixth Position**, ***Goblin Tower*** - This unit was my BIG dps. It has an amazing 5 damage that can scatter and blast the opponent. This is a monster unit in reverse speed and honestly the only time I ever play this unit.

<center><h1> Analysis of The Battle </h1> </center>

I was expected a tougher fight but I ended up winning pretty easily. I think my opponent blundered with his lineup. He picked units with a bit higher speed than you would ideally want in a reverse speed matchup. I just had more damage and I was able to attack first since my units were overall a lower speed. This allowed to basically win. I think one of the key units to my victory was the Venari Scout. If you watched the battle, you could see that he cleared the low health units that got low from getting scattershot.

<center> <h1> Do I Like Aimless? </h1> </center>

Aimless ruleset is definitely one of those interesting rulesets. I think that since it's heavily RNG dependent that actually it's fun to play because there's no perfect lineup to predict. There can be a bit higher winning percentage lineups but in the end rng is rng and if you have the scattershot gods on your side well gg well played. I enjoy playing this ruleset because of the diversity available for the lineups.
