The Synereo project & what 3 months journey through crypto space has taught me a lot about life.

Hi everyone,

My name is Christian and I am new to this crypto/decentralization space. I have only been deep in the game for 3 months now and I have learned alot! So much so that I decided to cancel a contract with the United States Navy to work full time on the Synereo project as a media producer. I went from sitting on my ass staring at the paint on my ceiling wondering what my future would be as a sailor. To magically flying across the world to The Hague, Netherlands with the mission to film as many bitcoin/blockchain conferences I can get to and to promote the crypto / decentralization movement.

I had no money when I started in February but I learned as long as you show that you have sincere drive, energy and passion someone will believe in you enough to give you a job. Thats exactly what the CEO Dor Konforty, CTO Greg Meredith and one of the community managers "HJ" of the Synereo project did for me starting in march of this year. They helped me draft a professional statement of work which I had never done before. Took time out of their schedules to teach me about invoicing and helped me buy the necessary video production equipment to do my work. Because of those individuals I wake up everyday full of energy and am constantly ready to pump out hours of research and effort. I cant say I would have the same energy level in the United States Armed forces. Keep in mind I can walk away from a contract at any point with Synereo. In the navy you dont have that choice. You are locked in. Thats the beauty this whole movement. Your reputation is at stake yes but once you take back the power and feel that you have real control over your life you start working in a different frame of mind.

It's amazing to build this kind of relationships directly with "C-Level" characters of companies because your network expands quickly. After the CEO/CTO and other managers showed me trust I feel I am a much stronger and capable person. Keep in mind at the end of the day we are all just people behind keyboards that mostly want to contribute to something meaningful and not be controlled and manipulated. If your a company in this crypto space let people work as free as possible. I met Rick Falkvinge at the Bitcoin Arnhmen conference a few weeks ago and his book Swarmwise https://falkvinge.net/files/2013/04/Swarmwise-2013-by-Rick-Falkvinge-v1.1-2013Sep01.pdf opened my eyes to another world. A world where we can all work together without a master/slave relationship.

Keep in mind that I had a background in DJing before joining the synereo project.I am not a dev/programmer, I am not able to write a smart contracts or program the next new killer DAPP. But I am good at bringing the noise, networking , promoting and listening/collecting/gathering intelligence on other projects in this space. The team at Synereo took enormous risk hiring someone like me who reached out through attending a google hangout a few months previous. Granted I would always come to those weekly conference calls with energy and enthusiasm and thats all it takes for someone to realize your talent. Curiosity and a sincere appetite to change the world and work together with complete strangers is all it takes folks.

I am much less judgemental since starting work at Synereo. Almost everyone in this crypto space has been warm, inviting and I continue to meet people daily that want to contribute their time to working on something bigger. Its all about love.

I have filmed 4 blockchain conferences since starting my work in March. If you are new and just starting out it pays to shut up and listen. There are no stupid questions in this space but trust me its better to do more listening than talking. Everyone is learning at different speeds and we don't need extra noise in meetings. Just wait an extra few minutes to see if your question gets answered.

But also keep in mind that it pays to support each other. If someone is new on project and they have questions help them to the best of your ability. This movement relies on people building reciprocal relationships. If you are a new company or project in this space and thrive off of building meaningful relationships start a Google hangout or a weekly conference call on zoom. http://zoom.us/ Zoom has a easy record feature and after the call you can upload your footage to youtube. Connect with your customers. After all we are suppose to be about transparency and openness right? :D

https://makerdao.com/ and the synereo project both have conference calls weekly. I just joined Stakepool https://wp.stakepool.com/ which has been around for a while now. Awesome communities! The more communities you can engage with and make friends in the better. I am 25 now and have been in virtual communities since the early 2000's when I was a teenager addicted to Everquest, Counterstrike and Diablo 2. Those days are over. I am now in the "real world" and I have no desire working in the military or private intelligence services to just make ends meet if I dont have to. I can now support a real movement and be supported back for all my efforts. I can continue doing what I love: djing, learning/reading and participating in a project that is truly light years beyond my scope of understanding.
