One of the great One of the rivalries that exist in our society, which usually have assiduous defenders and who always try to show the good side of things, although nothing is perfect, is the provision of public services against private ones. The original idea is that public services should be free and that they should somehow have some quality, which doesn't happen very often, while private services have high success rates, but the amount that the user has to pay to be able to use such services is also high. So, how do you define what would be better or not?

My most traumatic experience is definitely with the health sector, which for me has never worked in a single situation. I live next to a health center, that is, public health right next to me, so does that mean that I don't need to spend money on health plans or private clinics? No! It's crazy in Brazil not to have a private health plan, because the public health system (SUS), which is supposed to offer free and quality health care, unfortunately doesn't work. There are countless jokes about the system, but the most common one is that they only treat you after you die.

Exactly that, it may be free, but unfortunately many die in the queues waiting to be seen or called for surgery or something like that. So, people from lower economic classes, who cannot afford health insurance or private consultations, are at the mercy of this. The system offers its resources for free, but they rarely work as quickly or as we would like. In my example, I remember going to the health clinic (in an emergency situation) next to my house about 4 times over a period of 10 years and I never received quality care.

Incredibly, there is never a doctor, the system is always down or the ticket machine doesn't work. These were some of the things I've heard there, running to the emergency room, in desperate and serious situations and nothing, just a straight no. Is every place like this? I can't say for sure, but in my reality and in the way I talk to my friends, our public health system is just that: crazy, a fantasy for people who are in need or who can't afford private health insurance.

On the other hand, every time I've gone to a private clinic to get an exam or receive some kind of care, I've left satisfied. Of course, nothing is perfect, all places have their problems and flaws, but the private health system here is usually much better than the public one, so one of the obligations you have when you become an adult is to be able to afford a plan, otherwise you and your family are in big trouble if you need to use public resources in an emergency.

So, public services should be free and of good quality, but in terms of quality, I've never had a good experience, and the private system works, you go to the hospital and come out alive, but the problem is the (deadly) price you sometimes have to pay for it. The cool thing about all this is that, without corruption or depraved ideologies, the public health system would be of equal quality to the private and free service, but that is just a distant dream for us Brazilians.

Uma das grandes rivalidades que existem em nossa sociedade, que geralmente têm defensores assíduos e que tentam sempre mostrar o lado bom da coisa, apesar de que nada é perfeito, é o oferecimento do serviço público contra o privado. A ideia original é que o serviço público seja gratuito e que de certa forma tenha alguma qualidade, o que não acontece muito, enquanto o privado possui altas taxas de sucesso, mas o valor que o usuário tem que pagar para poder utilizar tal serviço também é alto. Então, como definir o que seria melhor ou não?

A minha experiência mais traumatizante é com certeza com o setor da saúde, que para mim nunca funcionou em uma sequer situação. Moro ao lado de um posto de saúde, ou seja, saúde pública ali do meu lado, então isso quer dizer que não preciso gastar com planos de saúde ou clínicas particulares? Não! Loucura no Brasil é você não ter um plano de saúde particular, pois o sistema único de saúde (SUS), sendo o que deveria oferecer saúde gratuita e de qualidade, infelizmente não funciona. As piadas sobre o sistema são inúmeras, mas a mais utilizada é que eles só te atendem após sua morte.

Exatamente isso, pode ser de graça, mas infelizmente muitos morrem nas filas esperando serem atendidos ou chamados para uma cirurgia ou algo assim. Então, as pessoas de classe econômica mais baixa, que não têm condição de pagar um plano de saúde ou consultas particulares, estão à merce disso. O sistema oferece seus recursos gratuitamente, mas raramente funcionam na velocidade ou da forma como queremos. No meu exemplo, lembro de já ter ido umas 4 vezes ao posto de saúde (em estado de urgência) que fica ao lado da minha casa em um período de 10 anos e nunca fui atendido com qualidade.

Incrivelmente, nunca tem médico, o sistema está sempre fora do ar ou a máquina de senha não funciona. Essas foram algumas das coisas que já escutei por lá, correndo para a emergência, em situações de desespero e graves e nada, somente um não na cara. Se todo lugar é assim? Não sei dizer, mas na minha realidade e da que falo com meus amigos, é que o nosso sistema de saúde pública é isso, uma loucura, um devaneio com as pessoas carentes ou que não têm condições de pagar por um plano de saúde particular.

Em contrapartida, todas às vezes em que fui a uma clínica particular, fazer algum exame ou ter algum atendimento, saí satisfeito do lugar. Claro que nada é perfeito, todos os lugares têm os seus problemas e defeitos, mas a rede privada de saúde aqui costuma ser muito melhor que a pública, então uma das obrigatoriedades que você tem quando se torna adulto é conseguir pagar um plano, senão você e sua família estão bem ferrados se precisarem utilizar os recursos públicos em uma emergência.

Então, o serviço público deveria ser gratuito e de qualidade, mas no quesito qualidade nunca tive uma boa experiência e o privado funciona, você entra no hospital e sai vivo, mas o problema é o valor (de matar) que você tem que pagar às vezes por isso. O legal disso tudo é que, sem corrupção ou ideologias depravadas, que o sistema de saúde público fosse de qualidade igual ao do serviço privado e gratuito, mas isso aí é somente um sonho distante para nós brasileiros.
