<p>The last D&amp;D campaign I ran (5th edition) prominently featured a lamia as a main character. My reason? Because a lamia has appeared in every iteration  of the Monster  Manual ever since 1st edition, but I had never seen one in a game, either as player or Dungeon Master.</p>
<p>In D&amp;D the lamia is a fiendish creature with the upper body of a woman and the lower body of a lioness (except in 4th edition when they were instead a swarm of magic-using roaches). Neither of those really jive with the mythological origin of the creature. <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lamia">WIKI-LAMIA</a></p>
