Afternoon everyone…. This did not come from my recent boxes of tricks from my private security place. Today I will share with you a bar that has true history to it for me. When my grandfather passed away nearly fifteen years ago now. They were living in Pennsylvania in an old school house my grandfather converted into a house in the late sixties. He rented it out for almost forty years, until my grandmother decided to retire from nursing at the age of 74. He gutted the entire inside of the house after the tenants left. Making the house exactly how they wanted it. All new plumbing and electric. The structure of the house was all stone over two feet thick. The property had another small house far behind it and to the left. When they moved out there my uncle moved with them and lived in that back house. I got off track a bit. Sorry When he passed away, my uncle took his coin collection and sold it. I had no idea this was done, until several years later when my grandmother passed away. I asked my mom about the coins, she said what coins. I said your father had a cigar box with very old coins in it. What happened to them? I told her to ask my uncle. That’s when I found out what had happened to the coins. Needless to say I was more than pissed after finding out my dumb ass uncle sold them. Not just because he sold them, but because he without a doughy got robbed by whoever he sold them to. Most of his coins were pre 1933 gold coins. All of them were in AU or better shape, and I know of two in particular that were Carson City mint marks. So I don’t have any of the coins from my grandfather. But I do have a bar that he was with me when I purchased it still. This is one of only two items that always stay with me. This bar is an Engelhard ten ounce horizontal bar. It’s not overly expensive they produced over 100,000 of them. Which is still nothing in comparison to what’s produced today. But it means something to me. It sits out in the air toning up as you will see shortly. Engelhard was a New Jersey based refiner, located just 15 minutes from where I grew up. They stopped producing silver bars in 1988, when silver price and demand were at extreme lows. After being in business for over 80 years the company stopped what it was known for.
