<center> Hello Steemsilvergold, i have just had a quick thought. I got from from work around 90 minutes ago and since then i have spent all my time on discord chatting to 6-7 members and catching up on missed DM's in group chats about different things. This is not out the norm for me and i spend at least 2 hours per day on discord. This is much more time than i spend on Steemit reading posts and interacting with community members. I mean everything on discord is either steemit are SSG related but my thought was "I wonder how many other members interact more on discord with other members than they do on Steemit?" Our discord server in terms of comments is miles ahead of comments on members posts. Could our discord server be partly responsible for our low comment count on members posts?  This might not seem be a big thang but it's hard to write posts everyday if you never receive any comments. Lots of people use autovoters (guilty) and have no need to ever visit a post to manually upvote so it's less likely you'll leave comments. Now, if you are not getting any comments on posts, you might not see the point to post anymore and just stop. For others that get big upvotes from bots, they post for the sake of posting and if they not getting comments, quality of the content goes down and then they have a worse chance to get interaction. If we think discord is adding to the problem, should we pull the community server and close it down for a while? I could have it down in less than 40 seconds. Ba-hahahaha, that sounds crazy, it does not even feel right typing it in. How would be host MR's. <br>  <br> I am going to make a point to make at least 5 comments everyday. That might not sound like alot but pretty much on my comments are reply's. Im not gonna jump in with committing 10 comments cause that's alot reading and im pretty timepoor. Starting tonight, i'll make it part of my nightly routine and do it when im having my bedtime spliff instead of watching videos about people converting school buses into tiny houses. I actually feel guilty for not spending more time on steemit interacting with people. I've got lazy, too many videos, no silver posts, no big epic posts like i used spend a whole afternoon writing, researching and doing pictures for. It's all community related cause it's easy to write about and alot of my posts are routine. At least if i commit to making more comments, i should get a few replies which is more comments. And for the record i love Discord, i has helped our community arrange most of our greatest things community related and is a much way to interact with other members compared to steemit chat which i has used 1 time ever to get a refund for an upvote. We pretty need our discord server to function properly.  .. </center>

The community spans multiple mediums but you probably have a point that discord popularity might detract from engagement on steemit at times but may the best medium for the community win. I like both, for different reasons and different uses.

I guess we were to ever have to go proper multi platform, we have a strong discord followings already in place. I also like both for different reasons, my problem is when im done with discord, im burned out and not really in the mood to be writing proper posts. Double edged sword and im sure that when STEEM is back at $2ish, we will begain to see action in the comments again.

There is the whole replying to folks that comment to you and there is seeking out the posts of others to comment on. I think if you do both you will see an increase in your on platform interaction. I'd not go as far to say community killer, but as more people join servers, there is definitely a decline in the comments. But that's not all bad. It's given people stronger bonds by allowing faster comms and even video chats. The title was a little click baity. I love discord but it would be much better if steemit had a sort of live chat function. I know they do but it's not very good when compared with discord plus nobody really uses it. 90% of discord is Steem related and the other 10 is cryptos, lol. We'd be lost without it

Discord is ok. I run through that every day checking some's cube life. The autovoter (myprecious) is what causes me to not comment sometimes. In my feed - due to autovoter - posts are green already so automatically you think "that is enough".

Discord is where you go to build relationships that is hard to do with a comment or two. Its also the place for the skulldugary, tomfoolery and shenanigans better left off the blockchain. I can post crappy memes and not worry it's blockchain bloat/low value spam. Plus for new members your not killing you RC's. I too miss too many posts, or don't comment as much as I should. I also rely too heavily on auto voting, and sometimes can't figure out how I didn't vote a post. Overall I think discord brings more value to the community than it takes away.
