I'm part (a proud part ^_^) of this community since January 2017. Four years from my first “introduce myself” post here, even if at that time the community was on steemit before Hive was born. In time I met a lot of interesting people here and I learned a lot of things on different fields. I also improved my English and this is great thing too! Three years ago I also met in real some users in Lisbon 3  and it was a great experience for me and my hubby . To be honest, also the on line HiveFest some months ago was a great experience for us, believe me! :D
I'm writing this because some days ago I read a very interesting content written by @steevc about what's better DON'T do it if you don't want to fail at Hive ( you can read the post here

To read that content makes me think when I started to post here and I used to read a lot of contents with tips for newbies. Those contents were really useful for me when I was a beginner and after months I also wrote some tips for newbies. 
I thought it was not necessary for me to write again about it cause there are so many useful contents fo beginners, but just yesterday I received a comment where a beginner asked me if I'm buying my votes cause I'm earning dollars instead of cents. Reading that comment, at first I was a little upset cause I really worked hard to have my reputation and my votes. After the first thought, I understood newbies needs tips and so I replied to him/her that (SURE!) I don't buy votes and I think to buy votes is not a good strategy. The best “strategies” (even if I don't like to use the therm “strategy” in this case) are to engage and to have fun!

Well, I decided to search one of the posts I wrote more than 3 years ago about some tips for newbies and to write them again, hoping they could be  useful resources for beginners.

I want to start with the main advice: 
you have to be patient!
Everyone here didn't earn so much during the first months. Everyone here don't earn so much doing nothing. As in the real life, also online you can earn more just working hard!


An now, these are my advices (the same I wrote years ago, useful also today):
1) only original contents! Hive is an awesome community and hivers will appreciate your original contents (tips: the text could be short, but not TOO short. Just to know, I use to write at least 200 words for every post; the pics have to be good pics or the best pics you can took). NO  copy/past from other sources, never! The Hive community doesn't appreciate copycats or plagiarists.

2) Have you write your "introduce myself post"? Usually it's the first post a newbie write here and it's useful to meet other people with similar interests. Write something about you, your work, your family, what you like to do, etc. Add a photo (or more than one) and add the tag "introduceyourself".

3) there are different communities on Hive, communities where you can post about your art, where you can post about animals, photos or other topics. Chose the communities close to your iinterest and engage with people!

4) Sure, everyone of us knows there are some people that earn much money for every post, but they are just few, really few and just to know, for the most part they are people who are working for the communities even if behind the scenes and/or they are big investors. Envy is never an useful approach, believe me. 
The most part of hivers don't earn 100 $ for post, but we are (really) happy when we earn 5/10 $, because they are  5 or 10$ more than we can earn on other socials. The first times here I earned just few cents for every post, I worked on my contents (texts and photos), I engaged people, I read a lot and I learned a lot and I had fun to do it. Now, after 4 years, I continue to do the same and so:

5) Stay connected with people! (Ok, this is “To engage” ^_^ ). If you want people read your post (see the point 1), people need to know you write here, right? If you are not a very known person out of here (a famous singer, a famous  writer, etc) you have to  known. How can you do it? Simple: follow your interests!  Read the contents about what you like  and, if you want, use the comments to engage a conversation with the author who wrote the content! There are a lot of interesting topics to follow and a lot of interesting people to know, believe me.
