There are many great looking coins out there my dad used to have a collection of coins which when younger I used to enjoy holding as for feeling it's "weight" or enjoying their designs. 
Since Steemit as a community of many who enjoy collecting coins I couldn't help but go online and look at some.

There are many to enjoy including the design of the first Steem coin which is probably still my favourite out of the current one's created.

But to pick a favourite coin? 

Well there are just too many for picking one, but still as anybody seen or managed to pick up a Sir Isaac Newton 50p coin?

Awesome looking coin no?

If not for the coin Sir Isaac Newton himself is of course widely recognised figure as one of the most influential scientists of all time, he is without a doubt a key head in the scientific revolution of many many things.

Like his book the "Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy" which was first published back in 1687 this is said to be a important book that laid-out the foundations for much of our classic mechanics.

But there are still some today who believe and say books cant hold true life changing knowledge, I wont deny that I love the internet, yep don't get me wrong but I do believe we would never of got this far without the recorded knowledge found in many of our past books.
 
Anyway Isaac formulated the laws of motion and universal gravitation which in turn formed a new scientific viewpoint... yes yes ok I know obviously a little dated now but the views at the time were used often until they were later...well superseded. 
But still as-well as information that was pioneering in the work field of physics and astronomy at the time "and all work for which he is still mostly known for" Sir Isaac Newton was also master of the Royal Mint for decades.

The Royal Mint is a limited company that is wholly owned by "Her Majesty's Treasury" and is under the exclusive contract to supply all the nation's coinage, which if you are that interested in that sort of thing you can actually visit this location.
And from what I have heard it's actually said to be a great educational day out.

At the age of 53 Sir Isaac was already a a very well-established scientist of he's time and it was in 1696 when he was appointed warden of the Mint where he spent much of his working life.
Newton also produced a report in 1717 which helped establish gold coin's as the more "capable" currency of England which is what paved the way and the the idea for something you have probably heard often, the "gold standard" anyone?

Anyway back to the actual Isaac Newton 50p coin which was used basically along side he's celebrated 375th anniversary of birth.
There are only 375 of the 2017 Isaac Newton 50p coins circulating which were released at the Woolsthorpe Manor in Lincolnshire.
It was said that more would be released at a later time? But still it's said to be a great result of the collaboration between the Royal Mint and the National Trust to celebrate such a occasion and of course do such a meaningful production.

The batch is said and could indeed turn out to be quite a desirable one among the others released in future which is due to their 2017 date. 

If your wondering the coin has been designed by Aaron West who is actually one of the Mint's team graphic designers, which I have to say I think they have indeed done a great job of it.

Commemorative editions of the coins in both gold, silver and collectable "brilliant un-circulated finishes" were available from the gift shop at the Woolsthorpe Manor but you could also get the coins directly from the Royal Mint website at the time.

Another well designed coin I think.
