Hospital food is generally pretty bad. The canteens aren't too far either. I have lived off hospital food for a large part of my adult life be it thanks to insanely long shifts, or just waking up at 4 a.m. in the morning to reach the hospital while everyone is asleep and get some hands on experience on some procedures! I've had breakfast, I've had lunch, I've had snacks, I've had dinner at hospitals in different parts of the _world,_ yes, different parts of the world.

So when I say hospital food is generally bad, I know what I am talking about! Thinking about really good coffee is daydreaming at best. But yes, there are exceptions. If there weren't, what would even _be_ the point of writing this post eh!

One such exception in terms of their Cafeteria is "United Hospital." While I have a few choice of NSFW words for their service in terms of nursing care and administration in the general ward, their cafeteria only draws praise! _(See, I am fair! I give credit where it's due LOL!)_

But we don't go to hospitals for their coffee now do we!? Then again, since we _were_ already there I was definitely going to try the coffee!

I have had their coffee a few months ago as well when we had to admit my father and I am impressed it is still as good as it was 6 months ago.

I like their takeaway cups. They aren't the usual black or coffee coloured paper cups most chains serve in. It was different for a change.

While their latte art is generally not on point, but there is one barista who always gets at least the heart right!

While it is not the best coffee in town, it is definitely up there with the "very good"s! Most places here serve those shit instant coffee and people jump all over with praises for those, it is a welcome breath of fresh air to have a proper coffee, that too at a hospital!

It's always nice to have some small snacks to go with a nice hot cup of latte! Usually some brownies or cheesecake is the preference, but we were kinda hungry - so a big fat club sandwich it was! That layer of poached egg elevated it on the palates by a few notches straight!

The latte itself was decent. Can't say it was perfect because the espresso shot didn't seem to smoothly blend in with the steamed milk and there was a bit of raw bitterness. But that was an overlook-able offense given how unlikely it was to get a decent cuppa there!

A few days ago, I had to eat 3 times a day at the hospital. The food wasn't that bad, it was even worse the food I cooked myself. I'm really sad hahahaha

Oh I totally agree with you about cheesecake or brownies with latte! I only really love my cuppa because it comes with a yummy nibble. The baristas here in SA definitely don't understand coffee art! It's just froth or nothing.

I HATE hospitals, so having great coffee would be a delightful discovery for me.
On the other hand, I used to volunteer at hospitals in Leicester, Uk and they served amazing traditional English foods that I always looked forward to:)

Yeah I'm with you on that one! Hospitals are no fun place - a nice comforting cup of coffee indeed does go a long way when you are stressed out be it as a doctor, or a patient!

Indulge is also an OG in the coffee business I'd say. I've known about them and been around their branch in Unimart - Gulshan 2 for quite a while now. But sadly I've never gotten the chance to pay them a visit, thanks to my love and loyalty for Tabaq, I've never really "risked" spending my money elsewhere haha.

And I too like the way they set up their brand, it's refreshing; the only cafe/restaurant that holds a slight similarity is White Canary, other than that it's exactly like you mentioned bhai, the common red and black or orange and black for any other coffee spot.

I'll have to go and give Indulge a try, I'm looking forward to tasting their cappuccino, to see how it compares to the one from Tabaq. Yet, what Indulge does best lies under the dessert category I'd say, have you seen or tried them bhai? No other cafe has made me drool as badly as the dessert's and pastries from Indulge, whenever I lay my eyes on them I just keep on looking haha.

Oh I love their desserts! The blueberry cheesecake and their pudding is out of this world hands down! My wife and I, we both absolutely adore Indulge! Besides fantastic desserts, it is also a nice nostalgic spot for us!

Their cappuccino and latte falls behind Tabaq's in my opinion, but it definitely is not going to be a waste of money!

I haven’t tried white canary. Where are their branches located? Any branch close to dhanmondi?

The main branch of White Canary is in Gulshan 2 one more in Gulshan 1 as well I guess, there's a small one beside City bank too, in the same area. There's a new one in Tejgaon too, not sure where in Tejgaon, that's about it. 

They're quite popular, well known for their breakfast/lunch items, also the decor that stands out quite well, you can just tell it's them from their signature look. 

I'd suggest you give them a try for brunch one day, if you're ever around Gulshan, just search on Google Maps for the location. The main branch is the only one that will give you a proper experience.

Hi @simplifylife , too bad most of your menu comes from a hospital, but I guess that's part of the price you have to pay for doing what you don't like, I don't particularly care for anything at all about the food in hospital cafeterias even though I don't work in one, but when I have had the opportunity to visit a sick family member I like to bring them home cooked comfort food because I know precisely what it feels like to eat from a hospital cafeteria, I'm glad you liked the design of the cups, that makes our drink more pleasant, even if it is not so good, one thing, compensates the other.😉
