## Not Enough SP = Trouble
Being new here on SteemIt isn't easy. Once you've created your account, you only have a tiny amount of Steem Power. It takes a lot of blood, sweat and (often) tears to get more of that precious Steem Power. And all odds are against you: the less SP you have, the less your upvote is worth. As a result, the curation rewards you can earn are only small, which slows down the growth of your account. 

Like that isn't enough, many new users often face the problem of running out of bandwidth and aren't able to post, upvote or even comment. It's a hard knock life...

## Delegations
About three months ago, I decided to use some of my VP to help some newcomers get out of this danger zone, and give them a chance to grow their account a little faster.

I set up [a contest](https://steemit.com/steemit/@simplymike/no-more-bandwidth-issues-win-a-delegation-and-steem-on), and rewarded 4 winners with a 50SP delegation for 8 weeks.

This delegation allowed them to post, upvote and comment without running out of bandwidth. It also gave them the opportunity to grow their account faster.

Unfortunately, 2 out of 4 Steemians dropped out. But I'm very happy to see that both @crypto-econom1st and @mirrors have done very well for themselves and are more than able to fly solo now.

This means there is room for some new people to support:

## Are You Willing To Commit?
You'll understand that I'm looking for people who are committed to the platform. People that are around to stay, and are willing to progress, so they too can fly solo once I retract the delegation.

So I'm looking for users who are actively working on growing their account, through posting, but also through interacting with the community.

## The Race
If you are prepared to put in an effort in order to get this free delegation, then read on. If not, then I can't help you. After all, in spite of what you were told when you initially signed up, SteemIt is not a get-rich-quick scheme. Growing your account requires **hard work and dedication**... unless you have enough money to buy your way up, of course.

**So here's my offer:**

For this contest, we'll be focusing on the Engagement League only. 
As you can tell by its name, the Engagement League is all about... engagement. 
The ranking is mainly calculated based on the number and the length of comments you make.

The metrics that are taken into consideration are:

> * Posts (P)
> *  Comments - number of (C)
> * Comments - replies to replies - depth > 2 (C R)
> * Comments - length in characters (C L)
> * Witness votes (W) (for those proxying witness votes, your total is always 30)
> * Upvotes to others (V)
> * Upvotes to different authors (U V)
> * Self-votes - a (getting smaller each week) minus score for this one sorry! (S V)

Basically, the more (valuable) comments you make, the higher you will end up in the ranking.

## How To Win The Contest?

It's simple: engage like there is no tomorrow. Comment, reply, comment, reply... and don't forget to put up a post every once in a while... Show me that you're serious about growing your SteemIt account.

The new Engagement Leagues post will be published tomorrow (Sunday, July 1st). However, this contest announcement will be valid for 7 days, so to make things fair for everyone I will not pick a winner next week, but the week after - this way everyone has a full week to prove himself.

Don't let that stop you from signing up for this week's Engagement League, though. By doing so, you'll get an idea of how you're doing by next Sunday and you'll know whether you are doing alright, or will need to push a little harder.

I am in and am already in @abh1234 list for 3 weeks or so and I have a proud feeling that my name was in the list for all  three weeks though in the 3rd table with Rank within 20. And hopefully it would be there in this week too.

My status in steemit satisfy your reqirement with SP less than 50 and someone who have a desire to  sail my boat in  this great ocean towards the place where Minnows are gathered haha. 

And I am  not sure whether it is fair to request you to visit my page even before the proposed duration of your challege has been started. But I would greatly appreciate if you could make a quick glanceover it.

IF you’re trying your best, you are already a winner, @booneyclaudia.
And even
If you don’t make it into the top 3, think anout all the new people you will be meeting. Building a network is at least as much valuable as getting a delegation - those relationships will last and become closer as long as you are here on SteemIt. And they will Keep expanding.. Before you realize it, you will have your own, very strong support system in place.

Engagement with others and building a network of like-minded people is by far the most important factor if you want to progress here on SteemIt.

Personally, I think quality is more important than quantity, but if you can post 3-4 quality posts per day, I don't think there should be a problem with that.

The crypto side is a bonus (still trying to learn how that works) For me it's all about the community and learning from each other. You should never feel guilty of commenting a lot. It’s the secret key to SteemIt success. If you would only post articles, you wouldn’t get to know that many people. It’s all about building a huge network, and the best way to achieve that is by leaving insightful comments on a lot of different people’s posts.

Due to circumstances, I haven’t been able to spend a lot of time here on SteemIt,  but before I had the tendency to write comments that were longer than many posts on here, lol.

I didn't know about the other contests. Anything would be appreciated as it gives one that extra incentive to strive for more. Putting in an extra hour on top of the hours everyday will give a boost to the energy levels required.

I completely agree, although IMO people are not newcomers anymore should get the same kind of support. And somehow I feel this is something we’re not really doing enough about to make that happen. Yes, once you reach rep level 50, you normally have the basics down. But there is so much more to SteemIt than just the basics.
One day, I’ll find a solution to keep supporting those people who grew too big to get to receive that extensive newcomer support, and are expected to make it on their own once they have a reputation between 50 and 60.
If I’m really honest, I do feel a little lost sometimes. Of course, I’ve had a chance to build an amazing network of friends, and we support each other as much as we can. But sometimes I really miss that long line of newbie-supporting initiatives that were all eager to teach me the ropes around here. Because although I have a rep of 57, there are plenty of times I could really use such a huge backup.

But I’m trying to figure something out to make sure that people who leave official newbie-hood will not be ‘abandonned’ and have no other choice than to get by on their own.
It might take some more time, but I’m trying to bring back a little balance :0)

So here we are again. Last time you did this I remember I didn't enter because I was still unsure if I wanted to commit to the platform. This time I may be a great fit.  
I recently had to be away for a family medical emergency. Funny thing is I actually thought about and even missed the people I have gotten to know here. At this point even without rewards I would still come here just to see what those people are up to. 
I am already in the engagement leagues. I was pretty proud of my rank for the last week I was here. This week will be low because I was just getting back into Steemit on Fri. The timing is perfect for gaining ground by next week. 
Also I have decided to shoot for 2 or more posts a week in the spirit of minnow uprising.  I think there is a valid point behind the movement but honestly 1 or more a day would only hurt my account. 
Since I am already doing these things I would love the opportunity to boost voting power.

Great! I think I get the idea lol I was already working on that stuff anyway.  I will for sure be trying to bump it up a notch with this motivation. That extra boost could go a long way toward building up some new contacts.  Between Ashers league, Pay It Forward and the Hive I meet a lot of great people. If I have more vote power I may be able to add in Asapers and Newbie Restreem  when I make my rounds. I do hit the last two but not as often as I would like.

It’s funny, actually. I thought I’d do an experiment by publishing a post off peak hours to see if this would have an effect. It’s like 6am over here, and I assumed most people would be asleep.

I love it when people show their great hearts helping others, when I started on this platform I was frustrated that I couldn't do everything I wanted to do so it affected my bandwidth, I had a great help from a group that supports the Spanish language, from there I knew that this platform is to build friendships and strong bonds that will guide you to success, I feel privileged to know this platform and how to help in which you can receive great support, thanks for these opportunities to the new steemians, your work is admirable.

Thanks. I haven’t forgotten what it was like to be new and have new power. Very demotivating at times.
Some nice people pulled me through, so I think it’s only normal that I’m paying it forward. I do like the entire ‘pay it forward’ mentality here on the platform, so I hope I can motivate some people to pass it along once they’ve grown big enough to so the same for other :0)

Another selfless offer! You do an awesome favor....for which i am evidence (honored for the mention, by the way ...lol). 

Once Delegation unchained from me BW limitations,  i got the free reign to grow my account. I can't be grateful enough. And yes, i can fly solo now.

A lot many planktons should take this chance. I do a sort of personal daily curation, i am making sure to include a shout-out in each of them for the next 7 days! That is the least i can do.

I noticed your curation posts earlier this week. You are the perfect example of someone who lives by the pay it forward mentality. Once you got on your own two feet, you decided to go out and help other newcomers. That’s the best outcome I could have ever imagined. 

I clearly remember the moment I first bumped into you. After out first interactions, me and @lynncoyle were talking about you behind your back (aten’t we aweful?), telling each other our gut told us that you would do so great here. And you’ve definitely proved we were right, 
I’m still very proud of you @mirrors.

Seeing your rep score, I realize I’ve got to watch my back, because at this pace you’ll be catching up with me soon, lol.

It feels such a long time ago, that first conversation, and then the days that followed.  And now what has become. You all gave me that spring board. It is something i remember always, an example i aim to emulate. 

My curation is helping me as much as it is helping those i curate, i have to admit, and i see it make small but increasing leaps. I think it will grow into something more diversified in the near future. 

Speaking of the Reputation, lol. It sure has climbed unusually very fast, i think. But well, so many motivations to climb higher, and you better keep climbing, and cut short some of your long off breaks, else! lol.

By commenting you get to learn a lot of other people. You build a network
Of like-minded individuals, and that’s the most important factor if you want to get somewhere here on SteemIt. 

It will not only make your experience more fun, you will also notice that once you’ve built a decent network, people will start looking out for your posts. This will result in more traffic, more comments and more upvotes. 

By leaving valuable comments on others people posts, there is a bigger chance that they will be interested in what else you’ve got to say and wil probably visit your profile, and the might even start to follow you.

I’ve always done a lot of commenting, and over the months I’ve built a strong network. I found loads of like-minded people. We often work together now, and support each others posts.

If you don’t buil such a network, there is a big chance your pists will disappear in the never ending stream of new posts. At least if you have some friends, you can count on each other to support you and help you grow your acvount a litle faster..,

I have another delegation going and by the time this actually starts, I will probably have more than 50 SP myself. Which is sad because I am already on the list you used as reference.

I can assure everyone who considers being a part of this that the results will be quite amazing one way or another. Engaging on Steemit can get you very far.

I just tool the liberty to check your wallet and it looks like you’re not far from the 50SP goal. Don’t worry, you are in.

But I’d like to make a deal with you: if you win the delegation, it might not be for the full 8 weeks. Once you manage to get to 50SP on your own, you should be free of bandwidth trouble forever. 
If you win, I’ll support you up to 55, and then retract the delegation again. From that moment forward you should be able to get by on your own just fine, and I can use the SP to help someone out who really needs is.

Well, @abh12345’s **Curation and Engagement League**-post will be  published some time later today. Keep an eye out for it. Once it’s up, leave a comment on that post, telling Asher you want in (maybe mention you were sent there through this contest).

Then, start engaging: write those comments, write those replies, get engaged and start building your network of likeminded people. Because that is the key to SteemIt success.

(I don’t know if you are using Discord, but another good way to get to know people a little better is by joining some Discord channels and take part in the interaction.

Well let's see what kind of damage I can do LOL.  Maybe I can upvote @headchange more LOL.  Between judging for PIF, doing a weekly curation post, a motivational post and newbie spotlight post for @greetersguld.  I then try to be more active in @asapers too.  The sucky part is not being able to keep up with all the upvotes.  @dustsweeper is a godsend...but still not quite enough.  
I signed up 3 weeks ago for Asher's curation league and I'm growing..baby steps LOL
