Here is an example of another faux mangled strat for this #straturday from the little vintage guitar store I used to help out.

This is another Nash Stratocaster with a relic treatment.

I really like semi-transparent finishes where the wood grain can still be seen. But I'm not the biggest fan of faux relic'd guitars.

They even sanded down the neck. The only thing that makes it obviously not a real vintage relic is the backplate that covers the spring doesn't have a ton of buckle rash on it.

Now for a weird Gibson firebird.

I love the color of this guitar but the shape is too zany for me.

Even the tuners are funky with a banjo style to them with the tuning keys facing off the back of the headstock.

This also has one of the biggest headstocks I've ever seen on a six string electric. This kind of makes it an unbalanced guitar where the neck always wants to tilt downward while you play it because of all the weight in the headstock. Meanwhile the body is thin like an SG.

They sound pretty good though, the three humbucker pickups are nice and quiet and breakup really well with distortion. I would prefer to put these mini humbuckers in a better shaped guitar that doesn't try and fall downward as you play.

This is a 1965 era Champ Amp with tubes in it.

It really has a warm tone to it and breaks up really well with distortion pedals. These are sought after for this feature and are still easy to afford and fix up since they are so simple.

You're trying to make me buy another guitar... aren't you? That relic-ing is a real art form. I'd try it myself but you'd know where every scratch had come from. It would be better off not knowing so you could pretend that it's real wear. 

Tell you what. I'll make a deal with you. When HIVE goes to $1,000 we can buy a guitar and relic the crap out of it then swap!

I do like to see the wood on a guitar. Not sure about the Firebird either. Was it Gibson's attempt at a Strat style more modern shape? I think there were some legal issues over the initial design and they reversed the shape.

It feels pretty weird to sit down and play it, then even standing up it likes to tilt down because of the huge headstock. Love the color scheme of it though. Maybe a les paul in this color scheme would be awesome.
