WiPee: Micro Python IoT Water Monitor Christmas Project Using a WiPy
During the Christmas period I have been working on putting together a little device that can measure water levels and send me emails when levels get too high. Been doing it for usage in our sewage system, to know if something is wrong or time to replace the last filter for the water as flow is not at a level it should be. Life on the country...

First step was using a raspberry pi to do a quick prototype. Second step was to get a proper low power device to use for the actual thing. I found the WiPy from wycom.io and once I had it, I adjusted the code to get it up and running fairly quickly. I ended up using Amazons AWS IoT to get the device to communicate in a stable manner and trigger emails. I use AWS for servers etc since many years back, which is why I used their services for this project.

Here is a shot of the final box, with no WiPy in it:

And here we have the WiPy, busy doing the final test:

Currently the WiPy is running on a single 2400 mah battery, I'm doing this to check so that my calculations and the specifications for consumption are correct. I'm leaving it for a couple of more days and will then check how the figures look. The final box will have 4800 mah and that should keep the device running for 2-3 months, which is the amount of time in between visual checks, making it suitable to recharge it.

In a week or two when all is done, I'll update the github and put up final documentation. In case anyone, for some weird reason, could have use of it!
