If you are familiar with our [Toolkit posts](https://steemit.com/toolkit/@sndbox/master-toolkit-steemit-resources-sndbox-updates), we strive to offer easy-to-understand guides to navigate the complex aspects, interface, and terminology inherent in a blockchain social-media platform. Individual posts also make it easier to share on other social-media platforms and ease potential users into the platform.

But as we at @sndbox explore all the nooks and crannies of Steemit, there are numerous tidbits that don’t substantiate entire posts yet are valuable to articulate. Since most of our Toolkit posts are designed to show *how to do something on Steemit*, today’s post will be a running list of *what NOT to do on Steemit*. Steemit is all about experimentation, but there are definitely some things you should avoid or approach carefully that may be not so clear for new users. 

Be sure to add any suggestions of what we can put on this list - things that you’ve had trouble with, found initially confusing, or still don’t make sense. We’ll consider and add them for future updates.

## TIPS : what NOT to do on Steemit

After that, the content is locked in and cannot be changed. Also, all edits are searchable within the blockchain (even though they might not be visible in the Steemit interface.)

Tags in Steemit are primarily used for searching and community-building.

Be sure to only use content that you have been given permission to use, created yourself, or properly referenced if it is Creative Commons content.
