There are 16 different types, but as I've said in a prior article, Myers-Briggs goes much deeper than our four letter result, because it really has little to do with our personalities, and a lot to do with how our brains work. People have different reactions to the MBTI test. Some find it interesting, some are indifferent, some actively try to debunk it, and for others, it's life changing! I spent most of my life intrinsically as a loner...weird, riddled with self-doubt and social anxiety, especially when I was younger. I was a quiet, angsty teenage outcast, and I even dropped out of my senior year of high school due to all of my problems. Recently I went back and got my GED - *yeah!* (That's beside the point, but I wanted to throw it in there. 😊) I've gained more confidence over time, but when I found out my personality type (infp), the description it gave me pegged me almost perfectly, and I learned that there are others (about 4% of the population) out there like me. I finally understood why it's almost impossible for me to be sociable. I lack the cognitive function extraverted feeling. My primary brain function is introverted feeling. Some people balk at being categorized, but for me, this was eye opening!

One person was hell-bent on convincing me that MBTI is rubbish. He wrote it off as unscientific and a farce. Our argument led me to an article that indicated to me that Myers-Briggs is a viable scientific theory.

Can one really say MBTI is rubbish after reading this?

If you haven't taken the MBTI yet, do so, and learn more about yourself! Go even further, and have friends and family take the test as well, so you can understand and communicate with them more effectively!
