MBTI Personality Types: Results Explained
## I haven't written a MBTI article in a while, and an post I read this morning inspired me to do so.

#### If you don't know what the MBTI, or the Myers Briggs Personality Type Indicator is, I'll tell you! It's a personality test that indicates which of the 16 personalities you fall into. It's the most famous personality test of all time. People often are tested in college, and it helps determine what career or field they would be a good fit for. Psychologists also use the MBTI to better understand their patients. Some people are just curious, as I was, and they take one of the free tests online. Here are two different sites that offer the Myers Briggs tests for free:
[16 personalities](https://www.16personalities.com/)
[Human Metrics](http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/jtypes2.asp)

#### After you take the test, you will be provided with one of the 16 types, along with a description of your personality. Some people find the description to be false, as it is possible to be mistyped, but mine was spot on. I've taken the test several times from several different sources, and my result is always INFP. There is a possibility of 8 letters you could get. The first letter will be I or E, the second letter will be N or S, the third letter will be F or T, and the fourth letter will be P or J.

![](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmeNuyTC7ezjZHRhtz9jwAcNor84dzQSyZ7q5SGeUAerTN/image.png)

## Here is a description of each letter:

#### I - Introverted: You are solitary, like a battery, you gain energy from being alone, and you are drained by too much socializing, you keep your circle small.

#### E - Extroverted: You love to meet new people, and like a battery, you are charged up by social interaction, and are drained when you spend too much time alone.

#### N - Intuitive: This does not necessarily mean you are psychic, it just mean that you often speculate about the future instead of the here and now. You may ponder the meaning of life, you may prefer deeper conversations, you may think and speak in more abstract ways, using metaphor. The information you take in is filtered through by your ability to see possibilities and patterns. About 20% of the population classifies as intuitive, and the MBTI test is often of interest to them, because in it, they find some answers to why they always felt different from the rest.

#### S - Sensing: You focus on the here and now, you filter the information you receive through your 5 senses, you focus on facts and you are good at remembering events, the things you have learned in the past and what you learn in the present are the basis for your actions, and they actuate your thoughts and feelings.

#### F - Feeling: Your decisions and judgments are made based on your emotions, and you follow your heart. You may place importance on humanity, compassion, and harmony, and you are motivated by your values.

#### T - Thinking: You make decisions based on logic, you consider the bottom line of a situation, and analyse the pros and cons instead of judging based on the way you feel.

#### P - Perceiving: You do not take much control over your surroundings. Your actions do not follow a strict sequence or schedule, and you are open to new possibilities or interruptions in your routine. You tend to be disorganized. You are not linear, but chaotic and easily distracted.

#### J - Judging: You may think that judging means you are judgmental, but it has little to do with that. It means you are organized and efficient. You probably follow a daily routine, and you get frustrated if your schedule or goals are interrupted. When you start a task, you make sure to finish it to its completion.

### This only scratches the surface, MBTI theory goes much deeper than this. This is where personality type stops, and brain function comes in. Behind each of the 16 types, are our cognitive functions. You have 8 functions, ordered into the most to least powerful. Only the first four are regarded as integral to your being. Our first function is our pilot, the second our auxiliary or "co-pilot", the third I'll call the flight attendant (no real power but helpful), and the fourth is like the well intentioned but immature little kid on the plane that tries to do the right thing but, well he/she's's a kid.

![](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmaVuThpdqCaGXUy6Z6yXMhAvaL9vkGREZ52ERSZSGK6nt/image.png)

## Here are the functions, and what they mean:
#### fe: extraverted feeling...sociable, harmonizing, people networking
#### fi: introverted feeling...a cacophony of nuanced and internalized feelings (since internalized it can come off as aloof to others)
#### te: extraverted thinking... organization and management of one's outer life and environment (and other people)
#### ti: introverted thinking... internalized thoughts, (little to no feels), outwardly measured
#### se: extraverted sensing...experiencing and interacting with one's world around them along with all five senses.
#### si: introverted sensing...the intake and storage of one's experience with life, and all five senses, remembering and evaluating internally
#### ne: extraverted intuition... creativity in action, seemingly unrelated thoughts and ideas being connected together to reveal a constellation.
#### ni: a Zen-like boiling down to the truth of thoughts and ideas and what they percieve around them. "A-ha" moments.

### As an INFP I am labeled as the idealist, mediator, or dreamer, my type makes up 4.4% of the population, and my cognitive stack looks like this: fi>ne>si>te

## Here are the rest:
#### ESTJ - The Supervisor/8.7%: te>si>ne>fi
#### ENTJ - The Commander/1.8%: te>ni>se>fi
#### ISTJ - The Inspector/11.6%: si>te>fi>ne
#### INTJ - The Mastermind/2.1%: ni>te>fi>se
#### ESTP - The Doer/4.3%: se>ti>fe>ni
#### ENTP - The Visionary/3.2%: ne>ti>fe>si
#### ISTP - The Craftsman/5.4%: ti>se>ni>fe
#### INTP - The Thinker/3.3%: ti>ne>si>fe
#### ESFP - The Performer/8.5%: se>fi>te>ni
#### ENFP - The Champion/8.1%: ne>fi>te>si
#### ISFP - The Composer/8.8%: fi>se>ni>te
#### ESFJ - The Provider/12.3%: fe>si>ne>ti
#### ENFJ - The Giver/2.5%: fe>ni>se>ti
#### ISFJ - The Nurturer/13.8%: si>fe>ti>ne
#### INFJ - The Counselor/1.5%: ni>fe>ti>se

I took the test a few times and both times it came out INTP, Logician Personality. I think it fits me almost exactly.

According to the test, I'm ENFP, that means I'm
>Extravert(9%) iNtuitive(47%) Feeling(25%) Perceiving(6%)
>
> You have slight preference of Extraversion over Introversion (9%)
You have moderate preference of Intuition over Sensing (47%)
You have moderate preference of Feeling over Thinking (25%)
You have slight preference of Perceiving over Judging (6%)

In the other page, it says that according to my gender I'm 6,4% of the population, so... I guess that explains why I felt all my life like a weirdo, even though I feel well adjusted socially speaking.

I'm glad you took the test @cpol! I always found it cool how enfps are unique, or as you would call it weird, yet social at the same time. Thank you for the resteem too! :)

The test sounded like fun! Uhmm, yeah it's kind of weird, I always have this unconventional train of thought, but always trying to stick to the rules and conventions. I thought I was going crazy, but it seems that is just the way I was assembled, hahahaha. Sure thing @snowpea, I love this kind of articles a lot!

Apparently I am INFP - T and I'm wondering how, since there's 8 options and you only get one out of two.
