Hace unos años escribí un post sobre mi experiencia de realizar las pasantías de psicología escolar y cómo me había sentido en ese primer acercamiento al ámbito laboral. Las pasantías de escolar consistían en un proceso de evaluación e intervención tanto a casos individuales como a casos grupales, para niños de 1er a 6to grado en un colegio público de Caracas. Fue un año completo (2 semestres) de pasantías, en el que tuve que hacer distintas actividades con los niños para evaluarlos o para ayudarlos en algún área que estuviese afectando su rendimiento en el colegio, fuese el área académica, emocional, social o familiar. 

>>The school internships consisted of an evaluation and intervention process for both individual and group cases, for children from 1st to 6th grade in a public school in Caracas. It was a full year (2 semesters) of internships, in which I had to do different activities with the children to evaluate them or to help them in some area that was affecting their performance at school: the academic, emotional, social or family area. 

Justamente hoy estaba limpiando y revisando carpetas de mi universidad y me topé con algunos **recuerdos** de esa época de mi vida. En la fotografía que pongo a continuación, por ejemplo, están unas cartas con vocales para ayudar a uno de mis casos a aprender a leer. El pequeño estaba en tercer grado y todavía no se sabía las letras, por lo que tuvimos que empezar desde un nivel básico... Además, recuerdo que también trabajé otras cosas con él como su disciplina y comportamiento en el aula. Le costaba permanecer en el salón y hacer las actividades escolares. Fue todo un reto trabajar con ese caso, pero me quedó un gran aprendizaje de esa experiencia: Cada niño es un mundo, y todos necesitan atención y paciencia. 

>>Precisely today I was cleaning and reviewing folders from my university and I found some **memories** of that time in my life. In the picture below, for example, there are some letters with vowels to help one of my cases learn to read. The little boy was in third grade and didn't know his letters yet, so we had to start from a basic level... In addition, I remember that I also worked on other things with him such as his discipline and behavior in the classroom. He was having a hard time staying in the classroom and doing school activities. It was a challenge to work with that case, but I learned a lot from that experience: Every child is a world, and they all need attention and patience.

Otra de las cosas que encontré fue una carpeta con dibujos hechos por niños de 6to grado. Recuerdo que para ese momento le pedimos a todo el salón de clases que dibujaran en una hoja de papel lo que habían hecho en navidad. Las ilustraciones fueron variadas, algunas referidas a la cena navideña y otras a los fuegos artificiales. Algo que me llamó la atención fue que 2 o 3 niños mencionaron que sus navidades habían sido tristes porque su mamá, su papá o su hermano se habían ido del país, y ellos los extrañaban mucho. Ese comentario me hizo comprender la magnitud del fenómeno de la migración y cómo afecta a nuestros niños en Venezuela, por eso quise que mi tesis se relacionara con ese tema. 

>>Another thing I found was a folder with drawings made by 6th graders. I remember that by that time we asked the whole classroom to draw on a sheet of paper what they had done at Christmas. The illustrations were varied, some referring to the Christmas dinner and others to the fireworks. One thing that struck me was that 2 or 3 children mentioned that their Christmas had been sad because their mom, dad or brother had left the country, and they missed them very much. That comment made me understand the magnitude of the migration phenomenon and how it affects our children in Venezuela, so I wanted my thesis to be related to that topic.

Obviamente estos recuerdos quise conservarlos. Forman parte de una época importante en mi vida en la que aprendí sobre el área psicoeducativa y el psiquismo de los niños. No creo que me dedique a la psicología escolar sin embargo, fue una gran experiencia de aprendizaje para el área que realmente me gusta: psicología clínica infantil. 

>> Obviously I wanted to keep these memories. They are part of an important time in my life when I learned about the psycho-educational area and the psychism of children. I don't think that I am dedicated to school psychology, however, it was a great learning experience for the area that I really like: clinical child psychology.
