La vida es compleja, a veces difícil y en ocasiones triste. En esos instantes de desconexión, cuando la decepción golpea en mi pecho, busco inmediatamente la cura en las letras de las canciones de mis bandas favoritas. Suelo tener un gusto por la música en inglés y todo lo que lleve rock entre sus notas. Passenger es mi terapia, sí, así como lo leen: Passenger es la banda que funciona como una terapeuta reparadora de heridas.  ¿La razón? Su lírica inspiradora y motivacional, fusionada con Folk Rock para llevarnos en un viaje de inspiración, aceptación, amor y  sencillez. 

Cada vez que termina una semana me acobijo en la esperanza de las nuevas oportunidades: lo que hice mal, lo que debo mejorar y ese cuestionamiento que surge en mi modo de ver las cosas. Antes de dormir, con la compañía de mis auriculares, me pongo a ver el cielo en el patio de mi casa mientras las canciones de Passenger se repiten una y otra vez. Son dos largas horas en las que busco reflexionar internamente, con ayuda de un tipo de música hecha para entender esa vida que suele ser compleja. De esta banda brilla la peculiaridad en la que se le canta al futuro, al tiempo y el espacio. Es un tipo de armonía que danza en conjunto con el hombre y su relación con la naturaleza, todo ungido con la mayor fuerza que cubre el universo: el amor.

I usually have a taste for music in English and everything that has rock in its notes. Passenger is my therapy, yes, as you read it: Passenger is the band that works as a wound repair therapist. The reason? His inspiring and motivational lyrics, fused with Folk Rock to take us on a journey of inspiration, acceptance, love and simplicity.

There are two long hours in which I seek to reflect internally, with the help of a type of music made to understand that life that is usually complex. From this band shines the peculiarity in which they sing to the future, to time and space. It is a type of harmony that dances together with man and his relationship with nature, all anointed with the greatest force that covers the universe: love.

Las canciones de Passenger nos llevan a ese rinconcito de ataduras mentales, expresadas en la cotidianidad y las dudas que la rodean. ¿Quiénes Somos? ¿Qué significa amar? ¿Por qué vale la pena seguir luchando? He aquí esa sencillez que nombré al principio, tan fundamental pero a veces tan escaza. Obviamente el desamor es parte fundamental de las composiciones de la banda, aunque es una forma de expresión que puede analizarse de múltiples formas. Después de todo, amamos de múltiples maneras… ¿no es así?  A nuestros amigos, familiares, incluso a la propia vida… 

¡No hay nada como amar a la vida!

Here is that simplicity that I named at the beginning, so fundamental but sometimes so scarce. Obviously heartbreak is a fundamental part of the band's compositions, although it is a form of expression that can be analyzed in multiple ways. After all, we love in multiple ways…don't we? To our friends, family, even life itself...

Inspirado por la terapia reparadora que suelo oír por las noches, deseo compartir con ustedes un pedacito de ese mensaje con el que Passenger me anima a seguir soñando. Una de estas canciones: _Simple Song._ ¿Recuerdan que les hablaba de la sencillez con la que esta banda confecciona sus líricas? Este es un gran ejemplo de ello. Simple Song nos invita, precisamente, a disfrutar del tiempo, sea bueno o malo, pues como lo cita la misma canción: “Aunque pasa lento, se acaba”. A veces es imposible detener la tormenta, pero: ¿Por qué no salir a saltar bajo la lluvia? 

Cantar repara el alma, tengamos la voz que tengamos… ¿Por qué no podemos ser sencillos? Simple Song nos mueve en esa dirección. En lo particular me siento muy familiarizado con la letra de esta canción, pues, de alguna forma u otra, me obligo a siempre agradecer sea la situación que sea. Es imposible evitar los tragos amargos, pero tampoco debemos ahogarnos con ellos… después de todo, nuestra copa seguirá llena de caminos por recorrer.

Sometimes it is impossible to stop the storm, but why not go jumping in the rain?

_Let Her Go_ es otra de mis canciones favoritas de esta banda. Esta vez la lírica nos lleva a entender esa realidad, amorosa o no, a la que ciegamente nos amarramos. Basta comprender a veces que lo mejor, cuando algo no funciona y lastima, es dejarlo ir. Entiendo esto a la perfección porque me ha tocado vivirlo, sentirlo y reflexionarlo. Aferrase solo empeora las cosas: las convierte en un proceso doloroso. 

En particular, la frase que eclosiona la verdad en esta canción es: “solo sabes que la amas cuando la dejas ir”. Suele ser difícil comprenderlo, pero mirando más allá de nuestros sentimientos, hay que comprender de lleno que no podemos auto-engañarnos. ¿Lo ven? Es como una clase de reflexión dispuesta para que los ojos y la mente aprecien la realidad. Y no hay nada mejor que sentirse libre, renovado y con la vista sobre un nuevo horizonte. Quizás el mensaje de Let Her Go apunte al amor de pareja, sin embargo, yo lo comparo con mis propias experiencias de vida. 

Cuando nos amamos, sabemos que algunas elecciones, aunque sean dolorosas,  son las que realmente nos otorgan una felicidad verdadera.

Todos soñamos con muchos caminos por recorrer, y en el transitar de éstos… ¿dónde se encuentra nuestro hogar? Ese lugar en el cual nos sentimos felices y tranquilos. Home es una canción que me lleva a recordar cada sendero con el que me he encontrado, deseando hallar esa alegría que a veces es tan difícil de definir. Porque después de todo somos seres humanos y, nuestra felicidad, por increíble que sea, solo depende de esa armonía que sintamos con el corazón. ¿Miedo? ¿Soledad? ¿Aflicción?  Eso es lo que nos vuelve valientes, pues la capacidad de fuerza radica en nuestra voluntad. ¡Ese es el músculo más importante!  

Home me encanta precisamente por la sutileza de su lírica, tallada para entender lo lejos que podemos llegar mientras nos sintamos orgullosos. Después de todo, somos nómadas de sueños, navegando de aquí para allá en un mar de posibilidades. Y nuestro hogar, el verdadero, sin duda residirá en nuestro corazón.

Home is a song that leads me to remember every path I have ever encountered, wishing to find that joy that is sometimes so difficult to define. Cuando escucho _New Until it`s Old_ reflexiono sobre el valor del  tiempo, ese que gira y gira infinitamente, envejeciendo todo a su paso. La canción indaga en la posibilidad de que esa rueda  temporal se detenga y nos brinde el obsequio de la vida eterna. Obviamente, no es posible, pero internamente el deseo la inmortalidad no suena tan descabellado. ¿Cuándo vivimos para siempre?  Nada es eterno, pero el proceso a la eternidad suele ser maravilloso. Nos inmortalizamos no con la fama o el prestigio, sino con la aceptación de nuestro ser. 

En este sentido, la vida puede ser como una canción: quizás pueda sentirse corta, pero lo que nos hace sentir dura para siempre.

We immortalize ourselves not with fame or prestige, but with the acceptance of our being.

Con _Beautiful Birds_ Passenger nos lleva a un rinconcito donde el amor y la unión son las armas más fuertes. ¿Quiénes somos en soledad? Cuando hayamos a la persona correcta y trabajamos juntos, todo se vuelve hermoso. De ahí la proeza de las aves en unión, que aun en la tormenta se acobijan con sus plumas para evitar el frío.  Esta canción es una de las más hermosas que he escuchado de la banda, tanto por sus ritmos armónicos como por su imponente mensaje. 
>With _Beautiful Birds_ Passenger he takes us to a little corner where love and union are the strongest weapons. Who are we alone? When we find the right person and work together, everything becomes beautiful. Hence the feat of the birds in union, that even in the storm they shelter themselves with their feathers to avoid the cold. This song is one of the most beautiful I've heard from the band, both for its harmonic rhythms and for its imposing message.

Passenger es esa banda que, con ritmos y mensajes armónicos, nos lleva a entender la esencia de la vida. ¡Es música para animar el alma! A veces es difícil procesar muchas de las cosas que vivimos, pero en cualquier circunstancia tendremos la oportunidad de renacer incluso con una melodía.  Una simple canción puede hacerlo todo más sencillo, solo hay que mantener el corazón abierto a la disposición y la voluntad. Como les había dicho, Passenger es esa terapia musical que me ayuda a reconectar con la virtud de seguir soñando muy a pesar de los fracasos. 

Recuerden, la vida puede ser como una canción: quizás pueda sentirse corta, pero lo que nos hace sentir dura para siempre.
