Solos Solar Array production stats – April 2025

For the month of April we produced over 1.38 MWh (Megawatt hours). We made a little less this month compared to the last, may be in part of cloudy skies. Though I expect the wattage to pick up more during the summer time in the next month or two.

Load: 2719.7 kWh
Grid Import: 2501.8 kWh
Battery Charge: 121.2 kWh
Battery Discharge: 101.9 kWh

*combined stats are different from screenshot from single inverter.

**Array A build:**

System Size = 5.5 kWp DC
Panels = Sungoldpower Monocryalline 60 cell (12 Panels, 450 Watts each)
Mounting System  = Brightmount EG4 screwed into 6x6 timbers
Wiring: 1x 8 AWG 19 strand PV direct bury wire pair
Inverters = 2x Sol-Ark 15k all-in-ones (240V)


Battery Backup = 48 3.2v EVE LF280 LiFePO4 280AH batteries
Battery Management system = Daly Smart BMS 16S 48V 500A
Battery Capacity = 45.696 kWh (840AH)

Propane Generator = Briggs and Stratton Power Protect 26kw

Thanks man, hah yeah well that is exactly what I did before I rewired my home for solar.

I have had at least 3 solar setups before I went big. First was a single battery single panel setup to power a water pump for watering outside. Then I did a 3 battery 3 panel to power some LED lights outside. Then I did another 3 panel/3battery to power my workshop until the big solar array was done.

So yeah start small and just have fun charging your phones or powering a fan or light or something.

Ah yeah that is one of the reasons I wanted my setup, in rural areas the power tends to go out a lot. So having my own setup helps.

Yes it is expensive. But you can always build in sections. Or scale up.

Oh yeah, your own setup is good, and no more power cuts for you. Maybe you can show it to the neighbors, as then they could also start to build their own.

I am looking into it, and I saw that they even have a rent to own system here. So, there are several options, but the best I think is to start small, and like you said, then to scale up.

Nice size solar installations! I had a solar array mounted on the roof and in Seattle it was definitely producing more on sunny days than on cloudy ones. But they also say that the temperature plays a role as well as the temperatures rise the efficiency of the panels tends to drop.

Thanks much, it is quite the setup.. Oh that is cool. Yeah its interesting to see on cloudy days it still pulls in power but not as much.

That would make sense, I should go check on my panel temps with my infrared temp reader sometime.

It's ramping up here as the days get longer. I'll build up some credit over the summer from all that exporting.

Solar ought to be a no-brainer. It seems it may finally be added on most new houses in the UK soon. It's not as cloudy here as some people think. We've had plenty of sun this year.

Nice man, glad you can export and its worth it for you. Where I live I would get pennies on the dollar sending it back to them. Soon I will be adding some more loads in the workshop to use up my excess. As I usually fully charge my batteries just 3 hours after the sun comes up. Got the rest of the day to make use of all that power.

Indeed, solar seems to be the way to go..  Oh that is cool, that is a good idea.
