When NY Dialed (Original Poem)

A movie plot between 1st and 2nd period
Everyone twiddling their minds as I chewed on my pencil.
Algebra was a greater concern than a New York airplane.

The hallway filled with alarm as if it could happen here
in this seven and a half horse town
where there are only 3 things to do:
Build fires, drink alcohol, and get pregnant.

As if it takes landing gear across the skulls of horny boys
to get the point across that Allah will have none of it.
God cares where your infinitely tiny penis ends up
for such an infinitely tiny, precious, moment.

The moment you notice that it would only take
a plane of balsa to bring you down.
Send you barreling to earth, erased
from the skyline just as easily as I remove
the wrong answer on my math test.

> Notes: Welp, the theme of this poem should be pretty obvious. It is an older poem looking at multiple scales: Little cities versus big ones; Little men versus silent gods. Math tests versus world-altering events.  It is fascinating looking back on and what details I draw forth in describing my little home town. I hope you enjoyed.
