El Teatro Baralt  es un espacio cultural  ubicado en el centro de Maracaibo los documentos históricos dicen que fue construido el primer teatro en 1847, pero a demás fue demolido en dos oportunidades más porque el material era de mala calidad y el último fue inaugurado en 1932 este gran teatro que tiene capacidad para aproximadamente 650 personas se ubica diagonal a la plaza bolívar.

En él podrás disfrutar de presentaciones musicales de danza y también de cine, cuentan quienes conocen de su historia, como el personal que en él labora y los historiadores que recurren el centro que los marineros venían a ver las grandes funciones con las novias que conseguían en la ciudad  disfrutaban de las Zarzuelas que son musicales con actuaciones teatrales e incluyen escenografías, también para la época disfrutaban de obras de teatro, de ópera y funciones de circo, uno de los eventos más importantes del teatro Baralt se realiza cada dos años en honor a  Manuel Trujillo Duran un festival de cine donde participan diferentes facultades de comunicación social y también escuelas de arte para la muestra audiovisual de su cortometraje, ya que  gracias  a él se puso realizar la presentación de las  primeras películas realizadas en Venezuela y se da en el teatro Baralt, ya que Luis Manuel Méndez  quien era dueño del Vitascopio de Edison, contrata  a Manuel Trujillo Durán periodista fotógrafo y Cineasta para que este maneje el aparato y se ven las primeras películas para el momento el teatro logra captar la atención incluso de otros estados.

Este tipo de edificación la han nombrado patrimonio cultural, en octubre celebro  490 años de fundada este hermoso espacio está administrado por la ilustre Universidad del Zulia quien creo Fundabaralt para tener un fondo propio para su mantenimiento.

Desde hace aproximadamente 8 años vengo involucrada en el entorno cultural de la ciudad, ya que antes debía cubrir todos los eventos culturales que se presentaban en este teatro y desde Luego me fascina ser parte de esta bonita historia, el teatro es una fuente de buena energía y para mí será un placer seguir trabajando en el ámbito cultural para nuestra amada ciudad.
