📚Choose Your Own Adventure! ~ Steemit driven storytime ~ Part #1 📚

I feel different but I don’t know why. Something about my body feels…. odd?!  I know a minute ago I was just reading Steemit blogs, but did I fall asleep? It’s pitch black so maybe I turned the lights off and just can’t recall doing it?! This isn’t a dream. No way it’s a dream. I know what it feels like to dream and then wake up but this is *different*. My rational mind can’t comprehend what is happening here. I’m alive, that much I know, but I don’t feel like my usual self.

“Owwwww….”  I have a sudden realisation my head hurts badly.

“What the hell is going on?!?” my mind asks itself, half expecting an actual answer to appear from nowhere. I feel my chest thumping, my heart beating like the ‘Jumanji’ drum with such force my skin tingles and intense anxiety pours through my mind. I am confused and becoming frightened, like a child who has lost their parents among a crowd in an unknown place.

I squint and tears well in one eye. I feel a stinging sensation in my vision. As I wipe the liquid from my eye I can feel sticky warmth, blood maybe? I touch my forehead and scream audibly with pain.

“Aaaaah FUCK!” 

My head hurts like hell. Definitely blood and a fair pint of it judging by the warm sticky feeling I also have through my hair. I feel a decent sized gash in my head like the skin has been cut and pulled back an inch or so. This can’t be happening, I *must* be dreaming. Wow! If I am dreaming, and that’s a big IF, this is the craziest most real dream I have ever experienced.

My room seems darker than normal. If I am dreaming, why is it so dark? I’ve never had this in a dream before, pitch black darkness. Where is the glow from my phone? I know I had it plugged in on charge and I have always seen the glow when I awake in the night. I look around the room but cannot see anything. 

“Hello?”

I’m unsure why I spoke out loud, I live alone. Who the hell did I think was going to reply? The cockroaches? Why is my bed so cold? So many questions are racing through my blank mind. I recall sitting here in bed but nothing before that. Why can’t I remember! What is going on!!! As my eyes start adjusting to the darkness, I see a faint glowing coming from under the bed. 

Ah ha! It must be my phone. I lean out of bed to reach under with intention to grab it. Then it hits me like a lighting bolt to my brain and sends a shudder to my core. 

Wait…. My bed *rests on the floor*…. There is no ‘under’. **This *isn’t* my bed!**

I feel nauseous and lean over to vomit, reaching out for an imaginary bucket. I know there’s not going to be a bucket, but I reach anyway and proceed to fall face first onto the ground. I grunt with pain. My head is aching severely as I lay in the dark on floor which I instantly recognise as foreign. I have carpet, ,I’ve always had carpet. This is a hard lino floor. I don’t know where I am, but I know where I’m *not*. My eyes are adjusting more to the darkness and I can faintly see something underneath the bed. I reach out and touch it.

“Whaaa….**what is *that?*”**

These were my favourite books as a kid!
I remember my dad commenting on my awkward way of reading because I had all my fingers on different pages trying to keep track of all my decisions...

I think D will be the most popular, but I am absolutely choosing C.

Thanks @aussieninja. Yeah I hear ya! I loved those books, in fact part of the reason I do art today is because of the pictures in those. I also used to hold pages with my fingers so I could go back if it ended... until of course you didn't have enough fingers! 😆

Glad you got a kick out of it. I love writing and storytelling so let's see how this goes.

@just2random hahaha that's hilarious! I could add that in but if he ever finds this post he might crush me lol. Funny story, option C was originally going to be an empty bottle of rum & a butt plug. I picked that image of Jerry and looked at the images and went... "Yeah nah I think I should change a few things 🤣"

I've never read HGGT and really have zero idea how this story is going to go. I guess there's a good chance it might end up with Jerry in it though lol.
