Sus propios compañeros de la escena angelina les odiaban por anteponer aparentemente su recargadísima imagen a la música y por ser en cierta forma responsables de las mofas y criticas hacia aquel tipo rock plagado de maquillaje que reino en los ochenta muy especialmente en la famosa urbe californiana.***

***Pero lo cierto es que Poison supieron hacer oídos sordos a las criticas y terminaron por convertirse en una de las bandas mas populares de su generación. Su tremendo encanto melódico y su gancho pop les llevaron a componer multitud de pegadizas y alegres canciones de hard-glam rock, vivo reflejo del ambiente festivo de aquellos años en Sunset Strip. La historia de “Unskinny Bop” tiene mucho de los clichés de aquellos atractivos años en la costa oeste americana.***

***Un buen dia la banda se encontraba en su local de ensayo cuando el siempre gallito C.C Deville apareció con una famosa (y seguramente voluptuosa) estrella del porno del brazo. Para impresionar a la chica, el rubio guitarrista enchufo su guitarra y se puso a improvisar dando forma a este riff seductor. El resto de la banda ni quiso ser menos, especialmente el sex-symbol de Bret Michaels, que comenzó a fabricar frases de alta carga sexual para intentar también captar su atención mientras Bobby Dall y Rikki Rockett ponían un llamativo contrapunteo rítmico a la calenturienta escena de “Rock stars meet porn star”.***

***Michaels no consiguió camelar a la chica, pero a cambio nació “Unskinny Bop”, que fue elegido primer single del ultimo gran álbum del “venenoso” grupo, su tercer larga duración “Flesh & Blood”, siendo una de sus canciones mas famosas y todo un hit. Poison habían nacido para divertirse, maquearse y poner poses chuletas en las fotos, y “Unskinny Bop” es una buena prueba de ello.***
