The month of August started with a new buzz in town. Splinterlands is making its noise again here in the Philippine community. It started when bots were banned from matchmaking in the modern ranked format. So, is this the right time to get back to Splinterlands?

With bots getting banned in the modern ranked format, there is a very noticeable increase in SPS rewards in Ranked Battles. And some are really taking profits every day by playing in the modern ranked format. With all the hype going around the community, what really peaked my interest was the SPS reward in the Bronze League. The rent is now cheap compared to before when renting cards that will lead you to victory in each battle in the bronze league. So I created a new account and tried it out. 😀

The IGN that I used is Bronzebaby. And these battles happened three days ago, when the rewards pool in the Bronze League was around 18k SPS. To get started, I need to rent a few cards—ok,  not few," but many cards for the Bronze League. And right now, @peakmonsters has this functionality to create your own deck, so it will be easier for you to buy or rent your needed cards. You can also search for public decks created by others if you do not know what to rent. So I created a few decks and went on to rent the cards that I needed.

Also, @peakmonsters has this functionality to rent SPS, because right now you will not get that much reward if you do not have staked SPS. You can check the right amount of SPS needed in the link located at the end of this post.

After renting the cards that I needed, I went over to see if I could make a profit by battling my way up in the Bronze League Modern Format.

The road is not as easy as it was before. Now in Novice League, even though there are bots to play with and let you find your game again, you might occasionally encounter a Yodin Zaku, Byzantine Kitty, or Scarred Llama Mage card in the opponent's line-up. But since I also rented these cards, I sometimes win and sometimes lose. In Bronze 3, I earned around 0.003 SPS per win. Not much to gain in profit, eh? But as soon as I ranked up my rating to around 900, the SPS that I earned was around 1.2 SPS per win.

After 2 days of battling in the Bronze League with stats of 190 Battles, 120 wins, and a Max Streak of 7, I reached the Top 1 in the Bronze Leaderboard. Luckily, not all Leaderboard Players are playing at that time. So I stayed there and stopped playing because my rent would also expire soon and also to check if I had gained any profit playing in the Bronze League. For the 2 days of playing, starting from 0 rating up to 1175 rating, I earned 154.563 SPS.

Here is the table of what I earned and spent on rents and energy refill.

I did not rent SPS because I have enough staked SPS to earn a significant amount in the Bronze League. So my total earnings for this account are around 2.6 USD. Imagine what I would earn if I started playing at around 700 and had multiple accounts.

So, is this the right time to get back to Splinterlands? I would say yes; however, you might find it difficult to win if you are not yet familiar with the new cards and strategies. Right now, if you create a new account and start from scratch, it means that you have no Soul-bound and Gladius cards that you can use. Having a card with Bloodlust is an advantage, isn't it? Especially if your opponent has a Quora Towerhead. But it's definitely worth it to play Splinterlands right now in Modern League. You know that you are facing a real player and not a bot, and this creates fulfillment with every win.
