Hi, friends! Today we saw some nasty mistakes from the drivers of world caliber which is quite a normal when you drive on the limit. Craig Breen (M-Sport Ford) and Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) both retired for a day because they went of the road. The nature of Ypres Rally Belgium is that it's packed with tarmac roads full of straights and 90 degrees corners full of dirt. Dirt was the reason why Thierry Neuville crashed out from the lead. His gravel crew didn't tell him that the corner is just full of dirt, he understeered and that was it. He was in the ditch with broken front right suspension. Craig Breen came to quick into the corner and rolled the car in the ditch with some fire from the engine bay. They extinguished the fire quickly but the special stage was stopped. It is interesting that his team mate Adrien Fourmaux almost finished in the same ditch as well but somehow managed to stay on the road with the help of bales. Well all this helped Ott Tanak (Hyundai) to take the lead after a heavy battle with Neuville whole day today. Toyota's Elfyn Evans is still in the game for the win with 8.2s behind a leader. Another Toyota driver Esapekka Lappi is in 3rd place but distant from anybody so he will drive tomorrow just to finish and take another podium finish which is what he needs to make his season better and secure the job for 2023. Oliver Solberg finally stayed on the road and is currently in 4th place but in a big battle with Adrien Fourmaux who got penalized 20s after being late two minutes because police caught him speeding in the traffic to the special stage.
