Trying to stop myself going CRAZY - attempting some watercolour

So the countdown continues! It has been 118 days since I lost my job and 101 days since lockdown started and the backend fell out of the economy (and therefore the job market). Dozens of job applications have been submitted with one response and one interview. It can all feel rather depressing but I'm doing my best to keep positive. I've not done bad, last night was my first sleepless night since this mess started.

I've managed to keep myself lovely and busy over the months learning new stuff, but I need a bit of a change. I used to enjoy painting in watercolours during my school days but have never taken it seriously or practiced. I thought I'd dig out some old pencils and paints and give it a go. Believe it or not I've been working on the outline details for hours trying to get the perspective right! This isn't likely to see paint any time soon at this rate 😂.

The pencil outlines are much lighter on the original, I had to tweak the levels to make it visible.

In hindsight I should probably have started with a landscape or something as I'm really out of my comfort zone with painting. I'm guessing there really aren't any rules but I've no idea how the paint will take to the paper and therefore how much detail I should look at adding. All trial and error and part of the fun I guess.

I've a few corrections to make as I've buggered up the distancing of the rib clamps (no idea if that's what they're called!). It feels nice to have a little time away from housework, gardening and having my head stuck in training material.

I imagine it must be frustrating. It is just a terrible time to be looking for work. Another creative outlet may help pass the time. I ought to try more drawing, but painting seems like hard work. Have you been inspired by Bob Ross?

Anyway, you have talents with a camera and you play a mean guitar too :)
