# Steem Basic Income
Steem Basic Income is a social experiment to bring a basic income to as many Steemians as possible. Members join by sponsoring others into the program. Steem Basic Income is delivered through providing regular upvotes to member content.

## When we talk about Steem Basic Income, what do we talk about?

There is not much change in a word cloud since last time, which is actually a good sign. It means that we have been consistent in our messaging and not had any big changes since our automation was paired with sustainability metrics.

The most surprising word in our word cloud is 'False'. In our weekly delegation report, we include a column that shows whether each member is blacklisted. 99% of delegation is from members not on any blacklist, so nothing is impeding their delegation bonuses. In this case, 'false' is a positive word!

Over the coming months, while still continuing to explain and re-explain how things work so that new members have a better initial experience, I will try to keep reiterating the **why**.  For now, let me just say this:  Steem is full of amazing people, and I was motivated to establish a framework that makes it easier for people to reward others with meaningful long-term support.

Sustainability Coverage is currently at 85.07% and rshares reward rate is 672,038,400 per SBI unit per day.

## Enrollment
If you want to get involved, or to increase the basic income that you receive, enrollment is pretty straightforward:

Just send 1 STEEM to @steembasicincome. Include the name of a Steemian to sponsor in the transaction memo (preceded by @). You and the person you sponsor will each receive 1 unit in the program. You can sponsor *any* active Steemian, it does not have to be a current member.

The official currency for enrollment is STEEM. If we choose to accept SBD without refunding it, you do *not* receive extra value for it. Enrollments are processed automatically every 144 minutes.
