<h1>Steem Basic Income</h1>
Steem Basic Income is a social experiment to bring a basic income to as many Steemians as possible. Members join by sponsoring others into the program. Steem Basic Income is delivered through providing regular upvotes to member content.

<h2> Enhanced Votes Graph </h2>
We last published this graph that 'maps' the interrelationships in our member pool ten days ago. Here is our graph and analysis from last time we published it:

It only shows people that regularly upvote each other or @steembasicincome, or have high subscription levels for regular upvotes that are too big for our smaller voting accounts to deliver. That makes sense, because we have over 6000 active members across ten pools. All of those interrelationships would be too much for this chart.

I find it rather interesting that some people showing on the periphery only have connections to @steembasicincome, while some also are connected to several other members. Already it gives some idea as to which large members use SBI to support community-building and lift up lots of other accounts, and which may be primarily profit-motivated.

<h3> Member spotlight: @newageinv</h3>
One member in the center of our graph, yet not previously spotlighted, is @newageinv. I have read some of his posts and comments in the last few weeks, and I think he has a good perspective on Steem's potential, along with the value of effective networking and lifting up those around you.

If a rising tide lifts all boats... is it possible to *be* the rising tide that lifts the boats around you and have your own boat lifted in the process? 

I think so, and I think that is the truth at the heart what makes Steem great, while losing sight of that truth is why Steem has been struggling this last year. We fell from being a top 25 coin to barely a top 50 coin as the biggest parties stopped caring about the health of the network and started thinking about how to 'get theirs' while they still could! Now we are fighting about how to fund decentralized development. I hope there is some resolution soon.

<h2> Upvoting Bonuses</h2>
Each time we receive author rewards for a post or comment by any official SBI account, we identify the value that each member added to the reward using their upvotes. That value will be added to the member's balance, with a multiplier of 1.34x.

For example, if you upvote us by $0.10, then $0.134 would be added to your balance when the post pays out. This would result in you receiving $0.10 back, even after curation rewards. In most cases, this means that a vote for SBI is more profitable than a self-vote. 

You are rewarded directly for your contribution to the long-term sustainability of the program! You do still have to be enrolled in @steembasicincome to receive this benefit.

## Enrollment
If you want to get involved, or to increase the level of basic income that you receive, enrollment is pretty straightforward:

Just send 1 STEEM to @steembasicincome. Include the name of a Steemian to sponsor in the transaction memo (preceded by @). You and the person you sponsor will each receive 1 unit in the program. You can sponsor *any* active Steemian (except for yourself), it does not have to be a current member.

The official currency for enrollment is STEEM. If we choose to accept SBD without refunding it, you do *not* receive extra value for it.

Enrollments are processed automatically every 144 minutes. Confirmation transactions are still manual and typically are sent within 2-3 days. Even if you have not received a welcome transaction, you can check your status using `!sbi status` in any post or comment.
