# Steem Basic Income
Steem Basic Income is a social experiment to bring a basic income to as many Steemians as possible. Members join by sponsoring others into the program. Steem Basic Income is delivered through providing regular upvotes to member content.

<h2> Consistent Growth </h2>
We have ten voting accounts, so your upvotes could come from @steembasicincome, @sbi2, @sbi3, @sbi4, @sbi5, @sbi6, @sbi7, @sbi8, @sbi9 or @sbi10. The new system dynamically selects the best account to deliver your upvote at the time of upvote delivery.  

We currently have 6109 members that have posted or commented within the last 28 days, and many more members that have not. There are currently 118403 units in the program, and it grows every day.

<h2> Upvotes by Voting Account </h2>
As each upvote is delivered by our newly automated system, it selects the highest VP account that can deliver the full scheduled upvote value. We are working toward creating a smooth VP curve between accounts that will eventually result in most accounts always getting their upvotes from the same 2 or 3 accounts.

There are lots of different ways to look at voting. This shows the total  number of upvotes (without respect to size) delivered in the last week. The biggest boxes belong to members that have a high enough SBI subscription level to get regular upvotes that exceed the minimum threshold.

<h2> @steembasicincome accounts voted </h2>

A more common way to look at voting distribution is by vote weight. This is more meaningful when broken up by account, and we are seeking to prototype regular upvote reports from each of the voting accounts. Here is what it looks like for @steembasicincome. Each member is assigned a random color, but there is no meaning to each color.

After the regular self-vote that we use to maintain sustainability, the next largest weight distribution goes to @qurator. This really highlights the value of upvoting rewards! After a chat a few weeks ago, they gradually increased their upvotes on @steembasicincome to test out our upvote multipliers. Now they give us upvotes, we reward the appropriate value (with multiplier) once each post is rewarded, and both programs steadily grow their SP base and decrease our long-term dependence on leased delegations.

<h1> Contest Update </h1>
The [FAQ Contest](https://steemit.com/contests/@steembasicincome/steem-basic-income-faq-contest-500-sbi-in-prizes) is closed across all categories. We are working to tabulate the results and we plan to publish a table of the winners within the next week or two. There were so many quality responses that it's going to take me longer than I anticipated to finish the scoring. That's a good problem to have, so stay tuned for that announcement.

<h2> Enrollment </h2>
If you want to get involved in Steem Basic Income, or to increase the level of basic income that you receive, enrollment is pretty straightforward:

Just send 1 STEEM to @steembasicincome. Include the name of a Steemian to sponsor in the transaction memo (preceded by @). You and the person you sponsor will each receive 1 share in the program. You can sponsor *any* active Steemian (excluding yourself), it does not have to be a current member.

The official currency for enrollment is STEEM. We accept SBD at our discretion but you **do not receive extra value** or any partial refund for paying in SBD instead of STEEM. If we choose to accept an SBD enrollment, we accept the entire amount. If we choose to reject it, we refund the entire amount and request you to send STEEM instead.

Enrollments are processed automatically every 144 minutes. Confirmation transactions are manual and typically are sent within 2-3 days. Even if you have not received a welcome transaction, you can check your status using `!sbi status`.
